Full job description

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst Lead to join our well-established BA practice.

This position has direct reports and is a servant leadership role requiring an inspiring people management style with an ability to get the best out of your team of people through your excellent leadership, mentoring and coaching skills. Your role works in a leading and supporting capacity to Business Analysts working within your assigned business areas.

Working with the BA Practice Lead and other BA Leads, the role drives the adoption of appropriate methodologies, standards, and tools, reinforcing “best practice” in business analysis, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

The role develops a deep understanding of LIC roadmaps, systems, products and environments to establish enterprise thinking, and ensure appropriate levels of consistency and alignment within your assigned business areas and across business units. The role will perform all other responsibilities of a Senior Business Analyst.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in an advisory capacity to Business Analysts within your business area in the on-going development and support of excellent products and systems for LIC customers, both internal and external.

  • Drive performance and excellence within the team, to achieve business goals and on-going efficiency and productivity improvement.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with business stakeholders across your assigned business areas to ensure delivery of true value to the business.

  • Perform the role of expert, mentor and coach to Business Analysts in your team, ensuring a high standard is maintained.

  • Contribute to the growth and value offered by the Business Analysis Centre of Excellence, working with others to drive best practice and continuous improvement in this domain.

  • Understand in detail the status of your team’s work; providing a clear escalation point for the resolution of issues.

  • Work collaboratively with other BA Leads, the BA Practice Lead and members of the Technology team to develop, implement, and govern operational processes and methodologies across the software development group.

  • Perform the role of Business Analyst, when required, including:

    • Eliciting and validating requirements

    • Assisting Principal Technologist in refining concepts and establishing solutions

    • Communicating requirements to the team using appropriate Business Analysis techniques

    • Validating product designs with stakeholders and customers to ensure they meet expectations.

About You:

You are adaptable, thriving in various contexts and handling changing priorities with ease. Your curious mindset drives you to find creative solutions to problems and take on new challenges with confidence. Additionally, you possess:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a BA Lead / Snr Business Analysis role within a technology or digital environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and mentoring other Business Analysts to uplift capability and practice standards.

  • Self-directed, well organised, with the ability to prioritise work and drive outcomes through collaboration and influence.

  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to support analysis, improve efficiency with an understanding of associated risks and governance considerations

Why Join Us?

This role offers the chance to join a supportive team environment with a well-established practice. We are committed to delivering exceptional value for our customers. Our team is passionate, collaborative, and driven by innovation and excellence.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer:

  • Flexible Working: Split your time between working remotely and at our Hamilton office.

  • Great Work Environment: Enjoy free parking, free EV charging stations, a tennis court, pool, and onsite café at our Hamilton office.

  • Valuable Benefits: Extra leave days and discounted health, life, income, and disability insurances.

This role will see you helping build the foundations that keep LIC strong, improving how we work, shaping smarter systems, and supporting the business to deliver for farmers. Behind every great farmer experience is a team like ours, making sure the co-operative is ready for the future.
