Assystem is an international company with one mission: accelerate the energy transition around the world.
Every day, our 8,000+ switchers located in 14 countries (Europe, Middle East, Pacific Asia & Africa) connect their six thousand billion neurons to tackle the task of the century: switching to low-carbon energy. We are a collective committed to making the energy switch. Sharing our knowledge, expertise and values allows us to innovate and think differently about the energy transition.
Here is how you can be a part of that switch:
Job Description
At Assystem, we are supporting the delivery of some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure and energy projects. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Consents Advisor to strengthen our environmental planning and project delivery capability.
This role will support the effective management of project consents, commitments and regulatory interfaces across major infrastructure programmes. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure compliance with Development Consent Orders (DCOs), statutory obligations and client governance frameworks while enabling projects to meet key programme milestones.
The Role
You will play an important role in coordinating consents activities and supporting the delivery of regulatory requirements across complex projects.
These are ongoing opportunities to support anticipated project demand. Your responsibilities will include:
Consents & Commitments Delivery
Support the coordination and delivery of project consents in line with DCOs, relevant legislation and statutory frameworks.
Assist in maintaining Consents and Commitments Registers, ensuring commitments are tracked and managed effectively.
Contribute to the preparation of applications, approvals, appraisals, reports and supporting technical documentation.
Support post-consent activities, including discharge of requirements and certification processes.
Monitor compliance with consented scope and highlight any potential deviations to the project management team.
Legislative & Regulatory Compliance
Apply working knowledge of planning, environmental and infrastructure legislation relevant to major projects.
Ensure project outputs align with statutory requirements, industry standards and client governance processes.
Support the implementation of Information Management System (IMS) procedures and controls.
Project & Programme Support
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support delivery of work packages in line with programme schedules and budgets.
Track deliverables against key programme milestones.
Identify risks within your scope and escalate where appropriate.
Contribute to project risk identification and management processes.
Stakeholder & Interface Management
Support engagement with internal teams, delivery partners and external stakeholders.
Assist with technical coordination between project teams and stakeholders.
Contribute to meetings and presentations, ensuring information is communicated clearly and effectively.
Quality & Governance
Produce high-quality, well-structured documentation to support project delivery.
Ensure work is reviewed and checked before submission.
Maintain compliance with IMS procedures, governance requirements and security standards.
Qualifications
Minimum two years’ relevant post-graduate experience in consents, planning, environmental management or infrastructure delivery.
Experience working within major infrastructure or construction projects.
Experience supporting delivery under DCO, Town and Country Planning Act, Highways Act or similar frameworks.
Experience tracking deliverables within a wider programme environment.
Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications & Professional Membership
Degree qualified in Town Planning, Environmental Management, Infrastructure Planning, Engineering, Archaeology, Construction Management, Law or related discipline.
Evidence of continual professional development.
Working towards full membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RTPI, IEMA, RICS, CIWEM).
