MUSI 1P04 Music Theory Rudiments – Winter (D3)
Basics of musical notation to advanced rudiments: pitch notation, rhythm notation, meter, key signatures, scales, intervals, chords,termsand signs.
Lecture, 3 hours per week

Compensation
Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally) Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).
Qualifications
1. Relevant Doctoral degree in music or equivalent experience.
2. Significantdemonstratedexperience teaching music theory rudiments,with a proven ability to support student readiness for post-secondary music theory,including the ability to design and deliver instruction that supports diverse learning styles, musicalbackgroundsand levels of ability.
3.Demonstratedeffectiveness of teaching through student or peer teaching evaluations, letters or recommendations, or equivalent documentation.
4.Demonstratedability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system or equivalent systems in other institutions.
