The Personal Lines Producer is responsible for soliciting and obtaining new insurance clients while retaining current customers. They evaluate customer needs, quote risks across multiple markets, and maintain detailed records in the management system.

Requirements

A high school diploma and a current insurance license in required lines are required, with a preference for at least 5 years of insurance experience. Candidates must possess strong computer skills and the ability to handle sensitive customer information confidentially.

General Job Summary

The Personal Lines Producer is responsible for soliciting, evaluating, and obtaining new insurance clients along with rounding and retaining current customers. Follow up with customers to ensure appropriate supporting documentation has been obtained and that customer receives the correct coverage contracted for.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Determine niche markets from list of companies to determine best marketing strategy and solicit new prospective customers.
  • Determine customer needs & all other required information to make an informed decision.
  • Quote the risk with multiple markets to determine best coverage and price.
  • Follow up with underwriter and customer through quoting process.
  • Log all activities of the sale in management system.
  • Maintain records, reports, and files as applicable.
  • Requote renewals when they renew over agency-set amount if requested by management too.
  • Follow all corporate and agency level compliance.
  • Follow individual and corporate Strategic Plan along with management set goals for calendar year.

Other Job Functions

  • Train other employees as needed on new products, companies, or approved changes
  • Maintain required disclosure postings and licensing (continuing education, etc.
  • Attend all required meetings/trainings.
  • Answer telephones as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Education, Training and Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years previous insurance experience preferred
  • Current Insurance License in required lines

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent organizational, time management & analytical skills
  • Able to communicate and negotiate effectively
  • High degree of dependability
  • Able to effectively problem solve
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality of customers personal information
  • Strong computer skills required such as Excel, Word, Adobe 
  • Maintain & foster positive relationships with customers and business partners
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Provide professional communication in both oral & written expression

Working Environment

Primary working environment is within an indoor climate-controlled office space and/or a private home office or some combination which will be at managements sole discretion. Employee may be subject to florescent lighting, dust, and other normal indoor allergens. Employee may work in close proximity of coworkers and occasionally independently in quiet environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Extended periods of sitting (at computer desk)
  • Complete repetitive tasks (including operation of computer mouse/keyboard)
  • May be exposed to extend periods of interaction with others (listening/talking/taking notes)
  • Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed
