Full job description

The position is responsible for performing routine and intermediate branch and customer services duties; performing cash management functions including vault, teller cash recycler (TCR), and cash settlement activities; accepting retail and commercial checking and savings deposits; processing loan payments; cashing checks and processing withdrawals; assisting with night depository duties; promoting business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. 

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Processes retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary deposit documents are in proper form and issuing receipts.
  2. Verifies customer identity and transaction authority in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Cashes checks and processes account withdrawals; confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.
  4. Assists with night depository duties, including logging bags, processing deposits, making change orders, issuing receipts and returning bags to customers.
  5. Performs assigned cash management duties, including vault access, balancing, teller cash recycler (TCR) operation, cash settlement, and cash handling procedures in accordance with policy.
  6. Promotes bank products and services by identifying customer needs, making appropriate referrals, and supporting branch business development efforts within the community. 
  7. Operates personal computer to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.
  8. Issues official checks.
  9. Performs safe deposit box duties.
  10. Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.
  11. Accepts loan, installment, and collection payments.
  12. Balances cash drawer daily and verifies cash being returned to the vault.
  13. Provides excellent customer service and assists in resolving problems within given authority.
  14. Identifies potentially fraudulent, suspicious, or unusual transactions and follows policies and procedures for escalation, documentation, and reporting. 
  15. Maintains confidentiality of customer and bank information and adheres to established security procedures and policies. 
  16. Records, files, scans documents, updates information and sorts mail or reports as required.
  17. Answers telephones and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
  18. May gather data and process various reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, overdrafts, callbacks, etc.)
  19. Processes address changes, incoming and outgoing wires, incoming and outgoing collections, change orders and deposit slip corrections.
  20. Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Travel:

Some local travel may be needed for this position. 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This position uses office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, calculators, filing cabinets and printers. 

 

Physical Demands:

This position will be responsible for writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching. 

Mental Demands:

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions. 

Education and Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 2+ years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution cash handling and customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet and account opening software programs.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
