Teach writing to 7th and 8th grade students for a 12-week semester. Responsibilities include delivering instruction, grading weekly homework, and attending planning meetings.
Applicants must be experienced middle or high school instructors and US citizens or valid visa holders. Ability to work at specific New York City sites during designated afternoon hours is required.
The TEAK Fellowship is seeking an experienced middle or high school-level instructor to teach Writing to TEAK Fellows in 7th grade. Instructors will work collaboratively as part of a team responsible for providing the curriculum structure.
Teachers will teach approximately 12-15 students on Tuesdays or Thursdays during the 12-week Fall semester (Sep 15 - Dec 10, 2026). Classes run from 4:45 PM - 6:15 PM. Instructors are needed at all our locations in Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens. Please indicate in your cover letter what site is preferred.
The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program that offers New York City students from under-resourced communities intensive after-school and summer academic classes, transformational cultural experiences, secondary school, and college guidance, a vibrant internship program, and a robust support system. TEAK students earn admission/financial aid at our Nation’s most prestigious academic institutions and graduate from them determined to make an impact on communities in need of their contributions and leadership.
Duties include:
Teach 1 section of Writing to 7th graders and/or 8th graders for 12 weeks from September - December 2026.
Provide 70 mins of instruction between 4:45-6:15 pm each Tuesday or Thursday (exact dates TBD)
Use Google Classroom and assign up to 1 hour of homework weekly. Collect and grade Fellow homework weekly.
Attend pre- semester new instructor meeting
Attend 30 min weekly planning meeting
Provide midterm and final grades, including writing student comments.
Salary range is $2,800 - $3,000, experience depending. Applicants must be US citizens or have a valid work visa.
