The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always home to 68 residents. The Staff Nurse (RN), as the front-line health care professional on each assigned unit, assists these residents and the Resident Care Technicians (RCT) assigned to the residents, in achieving a truly homelike environment in which the resident lives with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Staff Nurse (RN) is charged with managing all the resources available at The Mary Campbell Center in providing resident care in accordance with The Center's nursing standards, policies and procedures. As first-line supervisor, the Staff Nurse (RN) must be a positive role model championing the Guiding Principles and mission of The Center, while leading and managing delivery of the care and services provided by the RCTs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Staff Nurse (RN) at The Mary Campbell Center must 1) be a good person of high character who exhibits compassion and understanding, has the ability to work with a positive attitude and to advocate responsibly on behalf of residents with varying degrees of disability and 2) possess a current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Delaware, a CPR certification, 3 to 5 years clinical experience and the capability and willingness to actively supervise and assess Resident Care Technicians. The Staff Nurse (RN) must also be able to interact appropriately with all levels of personnel within a team environment, have the ability to utilize technology tools to effectively manage resident health reporting, possess good verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to lift and transfer an adult and use a lift device proficiently when required. May be expected to by the RN Supervisor as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensures that all health care activities are completed according to MCC standards, by leading and directing the activities of the RCT's assigned to their neighborhood. When necessary, personally assists residents in personal hygiene and self-care skills including, but not limited to bathing, feeding, toileting, and dressing.
Collaborates with LPN and RCT to improve patient outcomes.
Evaluates for the LPN and assess for the RN.
Administers medications accurately and provides treatments for residents as ordered.
Performs and records routine assessments of resident's physical and emotional health and well-being.
Monitors and treats resident's acute and chronic medical conditions as needed.
Utilizes nursing process for identification of health problems, planning individualized care, implementation of interventions, and measuring goal-driven outcomes.
Promptly communicates changes in resident's conditions to the DON, ADON, Neighborhood Nurse Managers, Nursing Supervisor, Medical Director
Promptly communicates changes in resident's medical conditions to the resident's physician per procedure.
Communicates with residents and their families regarding the resident health care plan.
Actively assists in the evaluation of RCTs' job performances appraisals.
Provides mentoring, coaching, counseling, and discipline for RCTs as required.
Participates as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team (ID Team) for assigned residents.
Assumes the responsibility of individuals in the Respite Care Program, providing all care and services afforded to MCC residents.
Completes all mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings as required.
