The right candidate is exceptionally organized, highly responsive, and energized by creating order from complexity. You’ll be responsible for keeping searches moving, maintaining the integrity of our systems and processes, and ensuring that every candidate interaction reflects the care, professionalism, and rigor that define The Atlantic.

Most importantly, you’re someone who enjoys making teams more effective. You notice what needs attention before anyone asks, you keep projects moving, and you understand that excellent recruiting depends on both outstanding people skills and flawless execution.

This position reports to the Director, Talent & Culture.

Responsibilities

  • Support searches from requisition through offer, ensuring an exceptional experience for candidates, hiring managers, and interviewers.

  • Manage recruiting operations in Workday, including job postings, candidate movement, data integrity, documentation, and reporting.

  • Coordinate interview scheduling and logistics, including complex interview loops and onsite visits.

  • Maintain recruiting documentation, trackers, assessments, intake notes, and hiring records with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for candidates and manage recruiting inbox communications.

  • Support hiring teams by documenting intake meetings, coordinating assessments, collecting interview feedback, and managing candidate materials.

  • Prepare offer letters and other employment-related documentation, and coordinate background checks and pre-employment processes.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, collective bargaining agreement requirements, and recruiting best practices.

  • Conduct initial resume reviews, phone screens, and other recruiting support activities as needed.

  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, systems, and the overall candidate experience.

Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of experience in recruiting coordination, recruiting operations, talent acquisition, executive support, people operations, or a similarly detail-oriented role.

  • Extraordinary organizational skills and a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong follow-through and a reputation for reliability and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience coordinating complex schedules and managing competing priorities.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.

  • Experience working in Workday or a comparable HRIS preferred.

  • Comfort working with large volumes of information, data, and administrative detail.

  • Advanced to exceptional Excel and Google sheets skills

  • Experience in media, publishing, journalism, or another fast-paced, mission-driven organization is a plus.

  • Interest in recruiting and talent acquisition, with a desire to grow into broader recruiting responsibilities and full life cycle position ownership

This position is based in Washington, D.C.

Salary minimum: $74,000; Salary maximum: $85,000
