Full job description
Position:Sr SDET (Sr Software Development Engineer in Test)
We are looking for a Sr. SDET (5 –9 years) with strong core testing fundamentals, hands-on
automation expertise, and a consultative mindset to lead quality initiatives for large-scale
products. The role requires ownership across web, API, and/or mobile testing, balancing
manual exploratory/UAT testing with automation strategy and execution, while working closely
with product and engineering stakeholders in an Agile environment.
Requirements
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using TypeScript/JavaScript for:
Web applications (Playwright / WebdriverIO)
APIs (modern API automation tools/frameworks)
Plan and execute comprehensive test strategies, including test plans, test cases, UAT cycles, and release validation.
Perform functional and exploratory testing across web, API, and mobile layers to identify issues early in the SDLC.
Drive API testing and validation, identifying functional defects, contract gaps, REST standard violations, versioning inconsistencies, and documentation issues.
Collaborate closely with Developers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, validate expected behavior, and resolve defects.
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) and contribute to sprint quality goals.
Lead and mentor SDETs, ensure execution excellence, and take ownership of deliverables.
Create and maintain test metrics, defect dashboards, and progress reports, and communicate status effectively to client stakeholders.
Continuously evaluate and implement best practices in testing, automation, and quality engineering.
Contribute to improving testing processes, standards, and methodologies from a consulting perspective.
Qualifications & Core Skills (Must-Have):
6+ years of experience as an SDET with strong hands-on testing experience.
Proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript for test automation.
Solid experience in web, API, and/or mobile application testing.
Hands-on experience with automation tools such as:
Web: Playwright or WebdriverIO
API: Any modern API automation framework or Mobile: Appium (preferably with WDIO)
Strong understanding of software testing principles, test design techniques, and defect lifecycle.
Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, payload validation, and integration testing concepts.
Experience in creating test plans, test strategies, release plans, and owning end-to-end test execution.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in client-facing environments.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment with minimal supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
