About the Role

The Student Success Coordinator creates engaging opportunities for high school students to develop leadership, career readiness, and civic engagement skills through community service, workshops, and hands-on learning experiences. Working in collaboration with schools and community partners, the Coordinator helps students build confidence, explore career pathways, and make meaningful connections between service, education, and future goals while supporting high-quality after-school programming across multiple school sites.

Position Title: Student Success Coordinator

Classification: non-exempt

Position Type: Part time (28 hours/week) 

Reports To: Program Director

What You’ll do

Student Engagement and Program Facilitation (30-40%)

  • Facilitate the Serve. Lead. Succeed. program focused on career readiness, civic engagement, and leadership development.

  • Recruit and engage high school students in community service, leadership, and career exploration opportunities

  • Lead workshops and activities that help students build workplace skills, leadership, communication, and professionalism

  • Help students connect their volunteer experiences to resumes, career goals, and transferable skills

  • Supervise students during club meetings, service projects, field trips, and special events

  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment by coaching, encouraging, and supporting student growth

  • Support student leadership by encouraging participants to help plan and lead activities

  • Provide supervision or coverage for other ASSETS clubs and enrichment activities as needed

Program Operations and Administrative Support (60-70%)

  • Support the development and implementation of the Serve. Lead. Succeed. program across multiple school sites

  • Build partnerships with nonprofit organizations, businesses, colleges, and community agencies to expand student opportunities

  • Coordinate community service projects, guest speakers, workshops, field trips, and career-related events

  • Promote the program through student outreach, classroom presentations and collaboration with school staff

  • Coordinate student recruitment, registration, attendance, volunteer hour tracking, and program communications

  • Maintain accurate program records and support data collection for reporting and grant requirements

  • Coordinate family engagement activities that strengthen student participation and community connections

  • Manage supplies tracking, materials, and logistics for assigned program sites

  • Collaborate with the ASSETS team to strengthen program quality and student engagement across sites

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in youth development, education, community organizing, after-school programming, or a related field

  • Passion for youth leadership, civic engagement, and career readiness

  • Experience building positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

  • Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between school sites

  • Availability to work after school hours onsite five days per week across program locations, with some weekends and evenings as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience facilitating youth leadership, service-learning, college and career readiness, or enrichment programs

  • Experience coordinating community events, volunteer opportunities, or partnerships

  • Experience working in schools, after-school programs, or nonprofit organizations

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese

Physical Demands 

Occasional physical activity may be required for related events such as lifting, carrying, and transporting materials, supplies, or equipment, and setting up displays. 

Travel

Regular travel between ASSETS program sites is required. SVEF will reimburse employees for mileage that is incurred while driving their own vehicle on SVEF business outside their normal commute in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. The normal commute is traveling between an employee’s home and SVEF’s offices.
