The Deputy Team Leader supports the overall management and delivery of the TRVC project, coordinating technical and operational workstreams. Key duties include leading circular economy pilots, supervising project staff, and managing relationships with government and private sector partners.
Requires an advanced degree in agriculture, climate change, or a related field with at least ten years of experience in leading agricultural development projects. Candidates must have proven expertise in circular economy modalities, carbon markets, and fluency in both English and Vietnamese.
SNV Vietnam’s Transforming the Rice Value Chain for Climate Resilient and Sustainable Development (TRVC) is a pioneering initiative and flagship project for SNV in the region. TRVC works with the private sector to introduce low-emission and climate resilient rice practices into the Mekong Delta. The project is amongst the first of its kind in Vietnam to mobilize pay-for-results as catalytic to incentivize private sector to scale low-emission and sustainable rice farming with smallholders’ farmers; and the international verification (MRV) system with a view to registration on the voluntary carbon market.
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and capable Deputy Team Leader to support the implementation of the exciting flagship TRVC that runs until 2027. We are looking for an individual with excellent project management and team leadership experience, and a keen interest in carbon markets, working with private sector, and a commitment to promoting gender and social inclusion.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995, and currently has over 50 national and international staff. SNV Vietnam’s team works hand-in-hand with communities, government agencies, and businesses in more than 30 provinces, including the remotest and poorest areas of the country. We operate from a country office in Hanoi as well as project offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh, and Buon Ma Thuot. Our work focuses on three sectors – Agri-Food, Water and Energy.
In the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, SNV Vietnam is implementing the project “Transforming the Rice Value Chain for Climate Resilient and Sustainable Development“ (TRVC) in An Giang, Dong Thap, and Kien Giang provinces. This exciting and innovative project aims to use a results-based financing mechanism to incentivize private enterprises in the rice value chain (RVC) to invest in scaling sustainable rice production among smallholder farmers (SHFs) and marketing domestically and internationally in the most rice intensive production provinces over five years (2022 2027). It is built on three core strategic objectives, namely
The Deputy Team Leader (DTL) supports the Team Leader in the overall management, coordination, and delivery of the TRVC Project, ensuring effective implementation across technical, operational, and cross-functional workstreams. The DTL serves as a central coordination point between project leadership, component leads, consultants, and provincial partners to ensure timely, high-quality, and compliant execution of project activities.
Provides technical and management guidance for project reporting; reviews and validates key messages, progress analysis, risks, corrective actions, and report quality before submission to the Team Leader. These may also include:
