Are you an experienced psychologist who is passionate about supporting children, young people and families from culturally diverse backgrounds?

SSI is looking for a Child and Family Lead Psychologist to provide clinical leadership, supervision and support within our Multicultural Child and Family Program. This is a meaningful opportunity to lead a small team of psychologists, support trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, and help strengthen outcomes for children, young people, carers and families.

About the role

In this part-time role (3 days), you will lead and support two psychologists working within SSI’s Multicultural Child and Family Program. You will provide clinical guidance, supervision and trauma-informed support, while also contributing directly to psychological assessment and intervention for children and young people when required.

You will work closely with case managers, carers, families, senior leaders and external stakeholders to support safe, high-quality and culturally responsive practice.

This role can be based in either Sydney or Brisbane, with hybrid working arrangements available.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision and support to psychologists within the program.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people.
  • Support carers, families and case managers through consultation and behaviour support planning.
  • Provide trauma-informed guidance across complex presentations, including mental health, trauma and family violence.
  • Contribute to professional development for psychologists, case workers, carers and staff.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards, child safety requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Attend quality, safeguarding and senior leadership meetings and provide reports as required.

You are a registered psychologist with strong clinical experience and a genuine commitment to culturally responsive, child-centred practice.

You will bring the following:

  • Current registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.
  • Board Approved Supervisor status.
  • Postgraduate training or significant experience working with children and families.
  • Experience delivering clinical services across diverse program areas and populations.
  • Experience working with CALD communities and/or Out of Home Care programs.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, child protection and risk reporting.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, guidance and support to a small team.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in multicultural family services and/or NDIS services will be highly regarded.
