POSITION SUMMARY
Adult & Teen Challenge of Sandhills is a faith-based, residential recovery program dedicated to helping individuals overcome life-controlling problems through Christ-centered principles. The Grant Specialist plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding the organization's mission by identifying, securing, and managing grant funding from government, foundation, and corporate sources — including Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) initiatives serving Cabarrus, Moore, surrounding Counties; seeking new and managing LME/MCO contracts with Trillium Health Resources. This position requires a self-motivated professional with strong writing skills, research ability, and a passion for serving others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Research & Prospecting
Identify and evaluate local, state, federal, and private foundation grant opportunities aligned with the organization's programs and priorities. Collaborate with Consultant (Dr. Gaskins or current)
Maintain a prospective grant calendar and funding pipeline.
Monitor deadlines and compliance requirements for all active and prospective grants.
Update Chief Financial Officer weekly on progress and new initiative opportunities for strategy.
Grant Writing & Submission
Prepare compelling, accurate, and complete grant applications, proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting narratives.
Collaborate with program Center Director’s and Program staff to gather supporting data, program descriptions, and outcome metrics.
Ensure all submissions meet funder guidelines and are submitted on time.
Update the Chief Financial Officer weekly on progress and data collection.
Grant Management & Reporting
• Track awarded grants, budgets, deliverables, and reporting schedules.
• Prepare timely and accurate progress and final reports to funders.
• Maintain organized grant files and documentation for audit readiness
Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Grant Management – Cabarrus County & Moore County
Assist CFO on OUD-related grant funding administered in Cabarrus County and Moore County.
Research and pursue OUD-specific funding opportunities including SAMHSA, NC DHHS, county health department allocations, opioid settlement funds, and private foundations focused on addiction recovery.
Update CFO weekly/as needed on progress and urgency.
Ensure compliance with all OUD grant requirements, including data collection, outcome reporting, and evidence-based program standards.
Assist CFO with county partners, health departments, and community stakeholders in Cabarrus and Moore Counties to align grant activities with local OUD response plans.
Track participant outcomes and program metrics required by OUD funders and prepare narrative and data reports demonstrating program impact.
Stay current on federal and state OUD funding priorities, policy changes, and best practices in substance use disorder treatment and recovery support.
LME/MCO Contract Management – Trillium Health Resources
Assist CFO on all contract and credentialing matters with Trillium Health Resources, the current Local Management Entity/Managed Care Organization (LME/MCO).
Manage the full lifecycle of LME/MCO contracts, including but not limited to initial application, credentialing, re-credentialing, renewals, and amendments.
Ensure ongoing compliance with Trillium's provider standards, service definitions, billing requirements, and quality assurance expectations.
Coordinate the collection and submission of required documentation, policies, and program information for provider enrollment and contract maintenance.
Assist CFO on contract deliverables, service authorizations, and utilization data; prepare and submit required reports to Trillium on schedule.
Stay current on changes to NC Medicaid, Behavioral Health I/DD Tailored Plans, and Trillium policies that affect the organization's contracted services.
Assist CFO proactively with Trillium representatives regarding program updates, audits, corrective action plans, or service expansions.
Relationship Development
Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders. Lead all campuses scheduling bi-weekly Thank You phone calls, emails, and had written emails to donors.
Represent Adult & Teen Challenge of Sandhills professionally in funder communications and meetings.
Coordinate site visits and funder stewardship activities as needed.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with the CFO and Finance Team to align grant priorities with organizational needs.
Contribute to the development of organizational budgets as they relate to organizational budget.
Support other development and fundraising efforts as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Associates degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 1–2 years of grant writing, nonprofit development, or behavioral health contracting experience preferred.
Experience with substance use disorder, behavioral health, or OUD-related funding is a strong plus.
Familiarity with SAMHSA, NC DHHS, opioid settlement grant programs, or county-level public health funding preferred.
Prior experience working with Trillium Health Resources or other NC LME/MCOs — including provider credentialing, contract management — is highly desirable
Skills & Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to write clearly, persuasively, and in a compelling narrative style.
Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with grant databases (e.g., Candid/Foundation Directory, Grants.gov) and NC Medicaid/LME portals preferred.
Knowledge of OUD treatment modalities, recovery support services, and relevant state/federal policy is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a faith-based organizational environment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hourly Wage: $17.00 – $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Housing: On-site housing provided as part of the compensation package.
Benefits Eligibility: Employee becomes eligible for organizational benefits upon successful completion of the 90-day probationary period.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates primarily in an office setting within a residential recovery campus. The Grant Specialist may occasionally travel to Cabarrus County, Moore County, or other locations for partner meetings, Trillium site visits, funder events, or community stakeholder meetings. The candidate must be comfortable working in a faith-based environment and with individuals in various stages of recovery.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
A formal performance evaluation will be conducted at the conclusion of the 90-day probationary period. Subsequent evaluations will be conducted annually or as otherwise determined by organizational policy. Performance will be assessed on grant outcomes, quality of written work, adherence to deadlines, OUD program compliance and reporting, LME/MCO contract performance, organizational collaboration, and alignment with the mission and values of Adult & Teen Challenge of Sandhills.
