Registered Nurse (RN)- Training and Clinical Support
Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour

Job description:
The Registered Nurse (RN), Trainer provides nursing oversight for the I/DD/MH/SA population, including supervision of long-term care services, staff training, and medication compliance monitoring, while ensuring adherence to all state and federal regulations. This role requires a valid RN license in North Carolina and/or South Carolina, along with 2–5+ years of experience working with the I/DD/MH/SA population and supervising long-term care services.

The RN Trainer is responsible for scheduling and conducting regular Medication Administration trainings for unlicensed personnel in accordance with 10A NCAC 27G .0209 standards, issuing certifications, and ensuring proper documentation is submitted to Human Resources. The role includes developing and updating training curricula to remain compliant with current regulations, as well as providing specialized instruction in areas such as ostomy care, tracheostomy care, and catheter care. At least one Saturday training session per month is required, along with limited virtual accommodations when appropriate. Ongoing communication with leadership regarding staff attendance, compliance, and competency is essential, and all training records must be maintained and filed electronically.

In addition, the RN Trainer conducts monthly and quarterly medication compliance reviews, including home and site visits to evaluate Medication Administration Records (MARs), physician orders, medication storage, and controlled substance counts. Findings must be documented in detailed Nurse Case Notes, including corrective actions and follow-up plans. The role also involves collaborating with Qualified Professionals, leadership, pharmacies, and providers to resolve medication-related issues and ensure timely documentation and compliance. The RN supports plans of correction, staff retraining, and incident follow-ups, including medication errors.

The position requires ongoing supervision of caregivers performing specialized medical interventions such as seizure care, G-tube management, insulin administration, catheterization, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, and CPAP/BiPAP support. These supervisions are conducted quarterly and documented thoroughly, with any additional training needs identified and addressed.

The RN Trainer also provides clinical and administrative support by participating in Client Rights/Human Rights Committee meetings, assisting with incident investigations and reviews, and delivering member-specific trainings as needed. Monthly case notes and reports must be submitted to leadership, including detailed summaries of training outcomes, compliance issues, corrective actions, and communication with staff and stakeholders.

Candidates must maintain an active and unrestricted nursing license, a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record, and proof of automobile insurance. A clear background check is required, along with eligibility to work without sanctions or registry restrictions. The role requires completion of annual and bi-annual trainings, adherence to all agency policies and procedures, and the ability to work independently with integrity and efficiency.

Timekeeping and reporting responsibilities include submitting weekly timesheets and task summaries, maintaining regular communication with supervisors, staff, and stakeholders, and providing monthly reports on medication administration training and compliance. This position is in-person and requires onsite attendance.
