JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Equipment Operator

DEPARTMENT: Mine Operations

LOCATION: Carlota - Miami, AZ

POSITION REPORTS TO: Mine Sr. Supervisor

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

• The Mine Operations Department is responsible for Safe, efficient movement of materials. The successful applicants will be required to operate Haul Trucks and other various equipment used in the department. This may include but not limited to: Rubber Tire Dozers, Graders, Haul Trucks, and Loaders.
• Perform and document a thorough pre-operational inspection to evaluate the safety and mechanical condition of the equipment.

• All work must be completed in a safe and efficient manner while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect the company’s values.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow safe work procedures and best practices.

• Operate in a safe and efficient manner, causing the least wear and/or damage to the equipment and mine property; maintaining the highest level of safe production possible.
• Operator equipment utilizing best practices.
• Follow all applicable State and Federal Regulations.
• Work independently and as a member of the team.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, attendance, confidentiality and code of conduct.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by the company.
• Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.
• Recognize hazardous conditions or situations and act quickly and appropriately to mitigate or eliminate those conditions or situations.
• Participate in meetings and discussions.

• Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

• Two plus year operating equipment in an open pit mine environment.
• Excellent attitude towards Safety and the continued success of Carlota.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Mine Operations Equipment fleets including operating and basic maintenance of such equipment.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to positively interact with people.

• Valid Driver’s License.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
• Positive attitude.
• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• General understanding of mechanical functions preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work. Sitting for long periods.

o Must be able to safely bend, lift, twist, reach, kneel, walk on uneven ground and sit for extended amounts of time when necessary.

o Must be able to safely ascend and descend ladder and stairs.

o Must be able to use proper body positioning while sitting in the cab of equipment to prevent injury.
