Overnight Service Supervisor — Lead the Night. $64–68K Salary.
Filta is an overnight cleaning company for commercial kitchens. Our FiltaFry crews filter fryer oil, clean the fryers, and collect used cooking oil for recycling; our FiltaClean crews handle professional deep cleaning of the whole kitchen — equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, walk-in coolers, and drains.
Read this first — it's the whole job in four sentences.
You'll run Filta's overnight operation on the ground — leading the overnight FiltaClean and FiltaFry teams while rolling up your sleeves right alongside them. Your primary role is overseeing the night: checking the quality of the work across customer locations and being the go-to when a tech has a question or hits a problem. You're also hands-on when it counts — helping the team at Gillette when a tight turnaround between events means more fryers to get done than a typical crew can handle, covering a route when someone calls out or takes time off, and riding along in a van for a few days to help train a new tech by both showing and doing. The people who thrive here are steady, dependable leaders who protect their own rest, drive safely, and take ownership of the whole night — not just their own stop.
This job is built around one thing: being the person the whole overnight runs on. That means:
- You're reachable and reliable all night. Every tech's problem routes to you, and you're the steady presence they count on — available, calm, and decisive from the first stop to the last.
- You manage your rest like it's part of the job — because it is. You set your day up to sleep so you're sharp and ready to lead when someone needs you at 3am.
- You drive safely. You're on the road between sites and out to techs who need a hand, so a clean driving record matters here — it's part of leading by example.
- You hold the standard — and coach to it. You inspect the work, spot what needs another pass, and train (and re-train) until it's right — lifting the crew's skills while keeping morale high.
- You own problems, not just report them. Customer won't answer the door, a machine's down, a tech needs a hand — you show up with a fix, not just a flag.
- You set the tone. Tired, greasy, 3am — you keep the crew upbeat and represent Filta well with every customer.
You'll thrive in this role if: you've led a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and enjoyed it; you keep a consistent overnight schedule and protect your daytime sleep; you'd rather be on your feet leading than behind a desk; you've got a clean driving record; and you're happy to stay hands-on — lifting 75 lbs, working in hot kitchens, and jumping on a route when the crew needs you.
What you'll own each night:
- Lead and supervise the FiltaClean and FiltaFry technicians across the overnight shift — assign tasks, monitor performance, and keep everyone on pace and to standard.
- Be the first call for troubleshooting — solve most issues remotely; drive to the site when it can't wait.
- Oversee quality across the night — make check-in rounds at customer locations and hold every job to the cleaning and safety standard.
- Step in hands-on when it's needed: help the team at Gillette when a tight turnaround between events means more fryers to get done than a typical crew can handle, cover a FiltaFry route when someone calls out or takes time off, and ride along to train a new tech (showing and doing).
- Supervise fryer management — oil filtration, fryer cleaning, and oil recycling — and commercial-kitchen deep cleaning: equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, walk-in fridges/freezers, and drains (FiltaCool for walk-ins, FiltaDrain for drains).
- Inspect techs' work against cleaning standards and health/safety regulations, and make it right.
- Train new hires and re-train the team on SOPs, equipment, and safe driving.
- Keep supplies and equipment stocked; order what's needed.
- Communicate with customers on delays or rescheduling; know our service lines well enough to spot upsell openings.
- Uphold every Federal, State, and Filta safety standard, and report safety or operational issues to management fast — with your recommended fix.
What you need to walk in the door:
- Proven experience leading or supervising a team in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment (commercial kitchen / cleaning / service operations a strong plus)
- A reference who can speak to your leadership experience
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (SSN)
- Valid MA driver's license and a clean driving record (5 years of good history — driving experience from other countries counts)
- Able to lift 75+ lbs and work overnight in hot conditions — you still get hands-on
- Reliable transportation to/from the Woburn warehouse (not transit-accessible)
- Available to work overnight shifts, with some weekends and holidays as our customers' schedules require
- A smartphone with text and email; conversational English
- A plus: knowledge of fryer management and commercial-kitchen cleaning techniques, and familiarity with health & safety regulations for commercial kitchens
What you get:
- $64,000–$68,000/year salary, depending on experience
- Bonus opportunities
- A company vehicle to run the night — as you get established in the role, we'll set you up with a company vehicle for use during your shifts, so you're not putting miles on your own car getting between sites and out to your team. It's a work vehicle kept with the business, not a take-home car.
- Company-provided t-shirts (you supply your own pants) and company-paid work shoes
- Paid every two weeks (biweekly)
- Full training on Filta equipment, routes, and SOPs
- A real leadership seat in a growing operation — you run the night
