POSITION INFORMATION
The Parts Driver has front line responsibility for customer interaction related to safe and efficient delivery of parts to our customers and pick-up from vendors. This includes:
- Loading parts delivery vehicles
- Checking each load to make sure 100% complete and accurate order fulfillment
- Safety checks of delivery vehicles
- Obeying all traffic laws and driving defensively
- Professionally representing Peterbilt of Atlanta at customer locations in appearance, attitude and communication
- Accurate record keeping through signatures on delivery paperwork, returned goods paperwork (RGM's), etc.
- Collection of COD checks and credit card payments, with phone in verification
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Possess a valid driver's license and a driving record which meets Peterbilt of Atlanta's criteria. Commercial Driver Medical Certification is required. Ability to use computer and calculator. Will be trained on parts department's computer inventory system. Ability to drive and operate a fork-lift safely. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with customers, vendors, and other contacts. Professional personal appearance and dress.
MANDATORY SMARTPHONE CAPABILITY
Employment in this position requires possession of a personal smartphone capable of downloading, installing, and reliably operating company-issued mobile applications. These applications are mandatory for completing safety inspections, reviewing coaching materials, monitoring driving performance, receiving critical notifications, and accessing other required safety resources.
Our payroll and attendance processes also operate through a mobile application. All employees must clock in and out using this system as part of standard timekeeping procedures.
Ability to meet this requirement is a condition of employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The Parts Driver role is a physically demanding position. Will drive a company-provided vehicle six to eight hours per shift. (Note: traffic conditions may result in extended hours on occasion). Will lift and transport up to 70 pounds several times a day. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. May operate a fork lift.
