  • Develop and execute internal communications strategies that ensure employees and stakeholders(Board and committee members) are informed, engaged, and aligned with PHS's mission, values, strategic priorities, and organizational goals.
  • Translate organizational strategy and business priorities into clear, accessible communications that help employees understand direction, progress, and impact.
  • Support internal presentations, staff meetings, and key organizational announcements.
  • Support additional projects and onboard responsibilities as needed.

Internal Communications Infrastructure

  • Build and manage PHS's internal communications ecosystem, including an employee intranet, email communications, organization-wide event calendar, and other channels that serve as resources for employees.
  • Establish governance, editorial standards, content workflows, and processes that support knowledge sharing, cross-departmental collaboration, and organizational transparency.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms and processes to gather input and insights from staff and use this information to refine communication strategies and practices.
  • Produce the “Good News” communication in coordination with President’s Office.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Design and implement employee listening strategies such as surveys, focus groups, and feedback mechanisms that help inform organizational decision-making.
  • Partner with Shared Services team to support employee experience initiatives, staff meetings, recognition programs, and culture-building activities.
  • Develop resources and communication toolkits that help employees and stakeholders effectively communicate and represent PHS's mission and impact.

Content Development & Measurement

  • Create compelling content across internal communication channels, including intranet content, newsletters, presentations, and employee-facing resources.
  • Use data, feedback, and analytics to continuously improve strategies, content, and processes.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while ensuring timely and high-quality execution.

  • Self-directed, highly organized, and comfortable building new processes, systems, and programs in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience launching, managing, or significantly enhancing an employee intranet or digital workplace platform.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience using project management platforms such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Monday.com, or similar tools.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, mission-driven, educational, healthcare, cultural, or similarly complex organization preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and PHS Values.
