The Procurement Project Director is responsible for leading and delivering multiple direct and indirect procurement projects across Europe and North America, ensuring alignment to global procurement strategy and business objectives. The role drives execution excellence from opportunity identification through sourcing, contracting, implementation, and benefits tracking—working closely with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Commercial, Facilities) and regional procurement teams.
· Procurement Project Leadership (End-to-end delivery) – Lead a portfolio of procurement projects across direct and indirect spend, including project scoping, business case development, stakeholder alignment, sourcing execution, implementation planning, and benefit realization tracking.
· Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Execution – Apply structured sourcing methodologies (market analysis, RFx, negotiation, contract award) to deliver value, cost efficiencies, improved service levels, and commercial alignment across multi-site operations.
· Stakeholder Collaboration (Cross-functional & cross-boundary) – Partner with operational and functional leaders to translate business requirements into procurement-ready specifications; facilitate alignment across regions and sites to ensure consistent execution and adoption.
· Supplier Relationship & Risk Management – Support the development of resilient supply networks by engaging suppliers strategically, assessing supply risk, and ensuring continuity of supply and service performance (including support for growth, integration, and M&A activity where relevant).
· Performance & KPI Management – Define, track, and report project KPIs (savings, cash impact, service levels, supplier performance, implementation milestones, compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction). Provide regular progress updates and data-driven insights to leadership.
· Cost Management, Budget Oversight & TCO – Build and validate should-cost/TCO models, track benefits, support budget adherence, and ensure procurement outcomes translate into measurable financial performance and operational improvements.
· Governance, Compliance & Controls – Ensure sourcing and contracting activities comply with corporate governance, relevant regulations, safety standards, and audit requirements; maintain clear documentation and approval workflows.
Continuous Improvement & Sustainability – Drive standardization, process improvement, and innovation across procurement project delivery; identify and implement initiatives that support sustainability goals (e.g., responsible sourcing, waste reduction, energy efficiency, optimized
· Change Management & Implementation Excellence – Lead change adoption across sites, including stakeholder communications, training/handovers, supplier onboarding, and performance management to ensure benefits are sustained.
· Tools, Data & ERP Enablement – Maintain accurate project and sourcing data in relevant systems and trackers; leverage ERP (IFS advantageous) and reporting tools to improve visibility, compliance, and execution speed.
· Strategic Sourcing and Logistics Strategy - The MRO & Facilities Category Director develops and executes end to end MRO (spare parts, tools, consumables, PPE) and Facilities Management (hard and soft FM services, energy, utilities security, cleaning etc) procurement strategies across North American sites. Ensuring alignment with global organizational objectives and maximize business impact by reducing costs, improving efficiencies, and driving commercial alignment.
· Stakeholder Collaboration - Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, Facilities teams to ensure the consistent execution of MRO and FM strategies. The director works to integrate these strategies into the long-term business plan and local operations while fostering a cohesive approach across the organization.
· Supplier Relationship and Risk Management - Building resilient supply networks through strategic partnerships is a core responsibility. The director works closely with the Procurement Director to understand and mitigate risks within the supply chain, ensuring continuity of operations and supporting company growth and enhancing service delivery. Including impact of mergers and acquisitions.
· Performance and KPI Management - Defining and monitoring KPIs on a category and site basis is essential to measure the success of short-, medium-, and long-term plans. Regular progress updates and data-driven insights are to be communicated across the organization to ensure alignment and accountability, coupled with the tracking of cost savings, supplier performance, uptime and service levels.
· Cost Management and Budget Oversight - Managing the category budget involves monitoring direct costs and TCO, analysing variances to budget, and implementing corrective actions to ensure cost control and financial target adherence. Additionally, the director identifies opportunities to reduce costs, improve processes, and enhance service levels within the MRO and FM categories.
· Continuous Improvement and Sustainability -Drive innovation and process improvements in MRO procurement and facilities management operations. Identify and implement sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency programs, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing practices.
· Compliance and Regulatory Alignment - Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and corporate governance policies in MRO and facilities procurement. Support audits and reporting requirements to maintain operational integrity.
Skills Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related); Master’s preferred in a related field and/ or 5 years + previous experience.
· Professional qualification desirable (CIPS, EIPM, ISM or similar).
· Proven experience delivering multi-site procurement and/or supply chain projects across direct and indirect categories.
· Strong commercial and financial capability: business case creation, negotiation, contract management, and benefits tracking (savings, cost avoidance, working capital, service performance).
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against deadlines in a matrix environment.
· Extensive operational experience – able to understand operational processes, customer requirements and technical attributes of the product range.
Able to successfully lead and implement change, structure, and process and take a common-sense approach to encouraging continual cultural, technological, and operational transformation
· Comfortable working both at a strategic and a tactical level, with a demonstrated ability to be hands on and remain close to sales and operations.
· ERP experience (IFS advantageous but not essential).
