Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid California driver's license with insurability. Candidates must be able to pass a DOJ criminal background check and obtain CPR, First Aid, and specific intervention training certifications.

A. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

  • Provides direct supervision, support and training to adults with disabilities receiving services from NVS.


B. PRIMARY SCHEDULE:

  • Saturday through Wednesday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm with a 30-minute on duty lunch. Hours and days may vary and may include day, swing, or graveyard shifts, Holiday and weekend shifts, and over-time shifts as needed.

C. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Works under the supervision of the Site Supervisor/Administrator as directed by the Director of Residential Services.


D. SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

  • Is responsible to supervise individuals with disabilities.


E. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Current California driver’s license, with an acceptable DMV printout and insurability.
  • All personnel must meet the requirements of Title 22 and title 17
  • Ability to pass a DOJ criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass CPR and First Aid course.
  • Ability to be certified in all NVS intervention training including Pro-Act, Behavior Tools, PCM Practitioner Level 1 or 2.




F. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all procedures, policies, and guidelines of North Valley Services.
  • Provides direct supervision to clients and maintains daily assigned scheduled activities.
  • Participates in assigned client scheduled activities.
  • Collaborates and works efficiently with others.
  • Implements Individual Service Plans (ISP) (teach skills and coping techniques).
  • Provides support to clients in nutrition, shopping, cooking, menu planning and meal preparation.
  • Facility cleaning as listed on the House Duties Checklist.
  • Assists with prescribed medications, which are self-administered.
  • Recognition of early signs of illness and the need for professional assistance.
  • Assists clients with personal care needs as required (i.e. toileting, showering, brushing teeth, etc.)
  • Provides transportation services (buses and/or vans) and assist individuals on and off buses and vans as needed.
  • Performs daily documentation according to program guidelines.
  • Review and contribute to the communication log daily.
  • Assists in behavioral situations as they arise.
  • Participates in agency-sponsored trainings as required to meet mandated Continuing Education Unit requirements.
  • Presents and maintains a positive and professional attitude and demeanor.
  • Additional duties as assigned including filling in at other sites or departments as needed.


G. PHYSICAL DUTIES:

  • May have prolonged sitting.
  • May have prolonged use of computer.
  • May have prolonged use of phone.
  • May have prolonged driving.
  • May have prolonged standing.
  • May lift up to 30 pounds.
  • May assist in lifting clients.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel.

First located in the basement of a local church in Red Bluff, Ca., North Valley Services has experienced tremendous growth in rural northern California and now serves over 270 people in Tehama, Glenn, and Lassen counties. We provide a variety of options including housing, day services, supported and competitive employment, and transportation to the communities where we reside. Becoming active and engaged members of our community is one of the primary reasons for our success. North Valley Services is a community-based organization focused on the importance of acceptance, community, knowledge, growth, and education. Our caring and compassionate staff support people with varying abilities in their quest for independence. We utilize a person-centered approach by treating people with dignity and respect and empowering them to set and reach their own personal goals. This is achieved through relationships, active listening, and collaboration between all members of the organization.
