Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Laboratory Operations Coordinator to join our team in Orlando, Florida.
The Laboratory Operations Coordinator provides support to daily operations in the Department of Pathology/Clinical Laboratory, providing support to department physicians, administrators, as well as clinical and business partners.
Managing functions related to laboratory and pathology reports. Must effectively use Laboratory Information System, Hospital EMR, and third-party service portals as designated, in this function. Also includes actions involving observations of billing and reporting through interfaces. Coordinates with Information Systems and others as needed to ensure proper integration of orders/results and billing for all services.
Supports quality management activities within the department of pathology/clinical laboratory. This typically includes creating the agenda, preparing and disseminating reports including key performance data, and data as it pertains to quality, safety, and strategic plans. The QM Plan will detail all key elements affecting the quality of department of pathology/clinical laboratory services.
Coordinates outpatient specimen collection services. This includes utilizing the electronic medical record, hospital and laboratory information systems, for efficient processing of orders for laboratory tests, and provides support service for the department and patients including verifying appropriate outpatient lab services are delivered, distinguishing errors and resolving discrepancies according to protocol.
Coordinate meetings and conferences for department physicians and leadership; this includes handling information systems related, audio-visual and other hosting matters for such meetings.
Support preparation of presentations, such as conferences, tumor board, etc. assisting physicians and others with activities related to content and photography of pathology materials including editing of photographic material as directed by pathologists.
Serves as a delegate in the processing of department invoices and payment requests as assigned. Includes the auditing and investigational efforts to ensure accurate and timely payments of services.
Coordinates travel for department physicians and others (e.g., visiting candidates or presenters) as needed.
Manages physician license applications, renewals and related items. Coordinates physician academic appointments.
Assists physicians with membership activities, regulatory agency visits, inspections, and coordination of resident and fellows through their pathology assignment.
Performs document searches and general tasks related to journals searches, including use of the Medical Library and medical search engines.
Assists with provision of pathology or laboratory reports or materials as needed (e.g., patient requests for pathology materials, such as slides, blocks, etc.).
Job Requirements
Associate degree or higher in healthcare administration, clinical or business sciences required.
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' experience required.
Prefer experience in a hospital pediatric pathology department. Prefer experience with laboratory quality management and analytics.
