The intern will support the casework team by meeting with service users, responding to helpline queries, and conducting legal research. They will also assist with administrative tasks, draft correspondence, and contribute to policy discussions regarding immigration and protection law.
Candidates must hold at least an undergraduate degree in law or a related discipline and possess strong English writing skills. A demonstrable interest in human rights and the right to work in Ireland are mandatory requirements.

Nasc is an independent human rights organisation based in Cork City. Nasc, the Irish word for ‘link’, empowers migrants to realise and fulfil their rights. Nasc works with migrants and refugees to advocate and lead for change within Ireland’s immigration and protection systems, to ensure fairness, access to justice and the protection of human rights. Our vision is an inclusive and equal Ireland that realises the rights of all refugees and migrants.

Nasc’s Casework Service provides information and advocacy on issues such as immigration, citizenship, reception conditions and social welfare to refugees, migrants and asylum seekers. We operate both an in-person service and a national phone helpline.
Work Schedule: This contract will involve working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will start in September 2026.
Location: Cork City. Hybrid working is not available for this role.

Opportunity
As an intern at Nasc you will have the opportunity to:
· Work side by side with the casework team, including meeting with service users, responding to queries from the helpline and carrying out legal research.
· Draft correspondence for service users as well as to government departments, NGOs, INGOs and other relevant organisations as appropriate.
· Receive training and gain practical experience in, and understanding of, Ireland’s immigration, reception and social welfare systems.
· Assist with the coordination of appointments for service users.
· Assist with the smooth running of the office including dealing with postal correspondence, filing correspondence and making referrals to specialist organisations.
· Participate in regular case work meetings and team meetings.
· Contribute to policy discussions on matters related to immigration and protection law.
Criteria
This position may suit a recent graduate.
Mandatory Requirements:
· Undergraduate (minimum) or postgraduate degree in law or other related discipline.
· Strong writing skills (English language).
· The ability to meet competing deadlines.
· Highly motivated with a desire to learn in a practical setting.
· Demonstrable interest in human rights (for example through research, previous employment or through community activism)
· Right to work in Ireland for the duration of the internship.
Desirable:
Any additional languages spoken, will be an advantage.
