Description

About Lunch-Bunch:

At Lunch-Bunch, our mission is to cultivate a passion for culinary arts while teaching children valuable life skills through cooking. Through engaging, hands-on enrichment programs, we foster a deeper understanding of nutrition, culture, creativity, teamwork, and confidence in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Our classrooms are fast-paced, interactive, and highly engaging, requiring teachers who can confidently lead, quickly adapt, and create a structured, supportive environment where students can thrive. We believe strong classroom leadership is essential to creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, collaboration, and personal growth.

By combining culinary education with meaningful life lessons, our programs inspire a lifelong love of food, promote healthy eating habits, and celebrate the diverse culinary traditions that bring people together.

Position Description:

The Level 1 Enrichment Teacher collaborates with other Teachers to implement and manage culinary-based educational enrichment programs and cooking classes. This role involves supporting instructional activities, preparing materials, and providing individualized attention to students to foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment centered around cooking and culinary arts. This role is ideal for aspiring teachers, education majors, youth program leaders, camp counselors, coaches, and individuals who enjoy helping children learn through hands-on experiences.

This is not just an assistant role. Level 1 Teachers are active classroom leaders responsible for helping manage student engagement, classroom behavior, lesson execution, and overall classroom success. Successful teachers are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.

You will play an important role in creating a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment where students can safely explore cooking, build confidence, and develop life skills.

What We’re Looking For:

We are specifically hiring individuals who are:

  • Highly reliable – you communicate clearly, show up consistently, and follow through
  • Self-sufficient – you take initiative and solve problems without waiting for direction
  • Comfortable leading groups of children – you can manage energy, attention, and behavior
  • Adaptable – you stay calm and adjust quickly when things don’t go as planned
  • Growth-oriented – you welcome feedback and actively improve

Responsibilities:

  • Review lesson plans weekly in advance
  • Watch weekly recorded training videos
  • Attend pre-semester teacher training sessions
  • Communicate proactively with the Enrichments Manager or supervisors as needed for support
  • Prepare classroom materials and food efficiently
  • Distribute materials or handouts before class ends
  • Manage student behavior, engagement, and classroom flow
  • Teach and reinforce kitchen safety and basic cooking skills
  • Report in-class incidents promptly using incident reports
  • Submit feedback after each class

This Role May Not Be the Best Fit If:

  • You prefer highly structured work with constant supervision
  • You are uncomfortable leading or managing groups of children
  • You struggle with consistent attendance or communication
  • You are not interested in receiving feedback and growing as an educator

If you are dependable, proactive, and enjoy working with children in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a leadership, instructional, or support role
  • Ability to effectively manage and engage a group of students in an active, hands-on environment
  • Strong communication skills and a high level of reliability
  • Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and continuously improve
  • Must pass a background check and LiveScan
  • TB clearance required

Schedule Requirements:

  • Availability during after-school hours (typically between 2:00 PM–6:00 PM)
  • Class length varies from 2 hours to 6 hours a day, depending on location
  • Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the semester
  • We work with school and schedules change with seasonality
  • Ability to review lesson plans and training materials prior to classes

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift classroom supplies and equipment up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with students throughout class sessions

Nice to Have (Not Required):

  • Experience working with children in a classroom, camp, enrichment, or youth program setting
  • Experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, or leading groups
  • Culinary, food service, or food handling experience
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification

Compensation & Growth:

  • $20/ Hour
  • Opportunities for advancement to Level II and Level III Teacher positions based on performance and readiness

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
