Job Summary
This is an outside sales position representing Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) and Livestock Marketing Insurance Agency (LMIA) to member/potential member livestock auction markets and affiliated businesses in the assigned Region. This position will travel extensively in Alberta, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Responsibilities include membership and insurance sales, problem resolution, account retention, livestock marketing industry promotion and advocacy. The Region Executive Officer actively participates in state legislative, regulatory, and association activities for the purpose of influencing policy that impacts the livestock marketing industry.
Candidate must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and people orientated. Livestock industry experience is preferred.

Essential Functions and Duties
Membership Services:
- Solicits livestock auction markets, dealers, order buyers or other allied livestock marketing industry businesses for membership in LMA.
- Maintains customer relationships to retain membership.
- Acts as liaison between members and LMA for questions/concerns regarding industry issues and payment of membership dues.
- Actively participates in lobbying efforts for regulatory and legislative activities in the assigned region to influence legislation that could impact the livestock marketing industry.
- Develops and maintains relationships with allied livestock industry organizations and regulatory officials in the assigned region.
- Conducts on-site assessments of animal handling at all LMA member businesses and acts as an advisor regarding employee training and business policy.
- Responsible for organizing and serving as the executive secretary for state affiliate LMA organizations in the assigned region.
Insurance
- Obtains/maintains required insurance licenses.
- Maintains knowledge of specific insurance policy content in order to sell and properly maintain customer accounts.
- Maintains customer relationships in order to be aware of customer changes in coverage/policy renewals.
- Functions as mediator/facilitator between claims and insureds when claims issues arise.
- Provides required documentation/paperwork to assigned customer service representative, in a complete and timely manner, in order to process insurance requests/changes of coverage.

Work Environment
This outside sales employee has a highly varied work environment that will include personal contact with accounts, industry meetings and self-directed work from a home office.
Physical Demands
The extensive car travel of this position requires the ability to be able to sit for many hours at a time.
Must have ability to safely maneuver livestock handling areas and stairs with occasional moderate lifting required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Due to extensive travel, this employee has great flexibility in hours spent in the office, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Travel
This employee travels extensively by automobile with additional travel by airplane. Must have a valid driver's license.
Required Education and Experience
Must obtain insurance licenses in order to sell/service insurance products in assigned region. Employer will pay for all licensing requirements and related pre-licensing classes.
Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum Bachelor’s degree or 4 years work experience
