You will design, build, and optimize modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric while collaborating with clients to translate business requirements into scalable solutions. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of reusable frameworks and engineering standards within the Data Practice.
The role requires 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering with strong hands-on expertise in the Microsoft Data ecosystem, specifically Microsoft Fabric. Candidates must possess proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and modern data architecture patterns, along with the communication skills necessary for client-facing consulting.

As our Data Practice continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Consultant – Microsoft Fabric to join our team in Auckland.
About the Role
This is a senior, hands-on consulting role for someone who combines strong Data Engineering capability with the confidence to work directly with clients.
You'll help design, build and deliver modern data platforms and engineering solutions, with a particular focus on Microsoft Fabric and the wider Microsoft Data ecosystem.
You'll work across client engagements, collaborating with architects, consultants and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready data solutions.
This isn't a role where you'll simply provide technical oversight. You'll remain close to the technology designing solutions, building pipelines, working with Lakehouses and Warehouses, developing transformations, solving complex engineering problems and helping ensure the quality of what we deliver.
You'll also play an important role in supporting and mentoring other engineers as our Data Practice continues to grow.

We're looking for someone with a strong Data Engineering foundation who is equally comfortable building solutions and engaging with clients.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Exposure to Databricks and other modern cloud data platforms would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Relevant Microsoft certifications, particularly Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700), Azure Data certifications or equivalent, are highly regarded. However, we're equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong hands-on commercial Fabric delivery experience.
The Person We're Looking For
Technical capability matters, but we're looking for more than someone who knows Microsoft Fabric.
You'll enjoy working with customers, asking the right questions and understanding the problem behind the technical requirement.
You'll be comfortable moving beyond dashboards and reporting into the engineering foundations of modern data platforms designing how data is ingested, transformed, governed and made available for analytics and other downstream use cases.
You'll be comfortable taking ownership of your work, making pragmatic engineering decisions and explaining those decisions clearly to others.
You'll enjoy helping other engineers develop and won't be afraid to challenge an approach when you believe there's a better way.
Most importantly, you'll want to remain hands-on while continuing to grow as a consultant and senior technical professional.
