The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. With 51 offices globally, including 13 in the Chinese Mainland, the HKTDC promotes Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub.

The HKTDC organises international exhibitions, conferences and business missions to create business opportunities for companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the mainland and international markets. The HKTDC also provides up-to-date market insights and product information via research reports and digital news channels.

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2026 and begin a new three-year business cycle, our mission remains as strong as ever to help Hong Kong thrive in trade and businesses succeed in the ever-changing landscape.

Responsibilities:

• Assist a team of economists with conducting quantitative surveys, including managing survey data, calculations, and tabulations
•  Draft simple reports on survey findings and undertake preliminary assessments on assigned research subjects
• Aid in perfecting the forecasting model and its execution
• Handle database management tasks, ensuring well-organised data storage
• Assist in calculating indexes based on instructions from the economists
• Aid in managing Hong Kong trade data
• Conduct comprehensive searches for macroeconomic data and market information as necessary, supporting researchers in developing insightful market analysis and forecasts

Requirements:

• A university degree, preferably in economics, finance, or a related discipline with a solid foundation in statistics
• Proficiency in SPSS is a must, along with skills in Microsoft Excel and database management software, such as Tableau
• Knowledge of programming languages, e.g. Python, is an additional advantage
• Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
• 0-2 years of relevant experience 

Candidates with less solid experiences will be offered as Research Officer

Remuneration and Benefits:

The successful candidate will be appointed on fixed-term contract basis, renewable subject to operational needs. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
