The Emergency Home Repair Technician will be responsible for performing small to medium sized drywall repairs, patchwork and other repairs that can be performed in-house. The Emergency Home Repair Technician will primarily be performing work in Habitat’s Emergency Home Repair and NR/AIP (Neighborhood Revitalization and Aging in Place) programs. Jobs will be scheduled and coordinated through Habitat’s Assistant Director of Construction - Repairs. Occasionally the Emergency Home Repair Technician will be assisting in other areas of construction based on business need, such as New Builds, Habitat ReStores and NR/AIP volunteer projects. Must be competent in computer use and Microsoft Office Software and must have good communication skills when dealing with other departments, volunteers, homeowners and subcontractors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Emergency Home Repair/ Neighborhood Revitalization / Aging in Place

Help facilitate the construction projects for emergency home repair and neighborhood revitalization program to meet organizational goals.

Follow all state and city regulation on all construction/drywall jobs.
Superintendent is required to perform hands on physical tasks as needed to complete jobs that require drywall.
Available full-time Tuesday – Saturday.
Occasionally assist with hands on preparation of job sites for volunteer groups and sponsors, based on business need.
Lead volunteers, subcontractors, and vendors on site during the project.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Broad knowledge of all aspects of construction.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Able to work a Tuesday – Saturday work week.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local lead-based paint regulations.
Arizona Department of Agriculture Pest Management Division – Applicator Certification a plus.
Able to be Aging in Place (AIP) certified.
Able to become a lead safe renovator.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Team player.
Organizational skills.
Strong communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Leadership skills.
Follow-up skills
Desire to succeed.
Always maintain professional attitude.
Bilingual a plus.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

4-5 years hands on field construction or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years in the construction industry.

Dress code is casual and comfortable; no sandals or open shoes allowed, steel-toed boots recommended, and company shirts will be provided.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Employee must be competent and proficient in using construction tools, manual tools and powered tools in order to fulfill job requirements.
Employee must be proficient in or able to use or learn to use office equipment such as computer, printer, phone, copiers, calculator, fax machine and other communication tools.
