The Nursing Station Technician provides direct patient care including hygiene and vitals while managing administrative desk functions. They coordinate communication flow, process admissions and discharges, and maintain unit supplies under the direction of professional nursing staff.
Candidates must have a BLS certification and either a Nursing Assistant certification, completion of a specific training program, or six months of direct care experience. Enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with one semester of clinicals is also acceptable.
Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician (NST) Nursing Assistant/Health Unit Coordinator HUC for the Outpatient Observation Medical Surgical Unit at Fairview Ridges Hospital (Burnsville, MN) to work under direction of nursing personnel to provide patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant and as a health unit coordinator.
This position is a 0.8 FTE, working 64 hours per 2 week pay period. This position works 8-hour shifts, every other weekend rotation (Fri,Sat,Sun), on the night (11pm-7:30am) shift.
The Nursing Station Technician is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, reordering, and stocking supplies. Performs a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of patient care unit desk area functions. Coordinates the flow of communication on a patient care unit. The NST does not work autonomously but under the direction of the professional nurse. They may or may not be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager /charge nurse.
The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.
In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast paced unit.
