Start Date: October 2026
Placement Length: 5 months
Language Requirements: Spanish Level 4-Advanced
Please submit a Spanish Resume and Statement of Interest
Eligibility: Open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada only
The Volunteer’s Role
Use your communications and marketing expertise to help amplify stories of resilience, opportunity, and community-led change in Peru. Through this volunteer placement with Cuso International, you will collaborate with Asociación Kallpa, a Peruvian organization working to expand opportunities for children, youth, women, and vulnerable communities through initiatives focused on health, education, gender equality, employment, entrepreneurship, the environment, and sexual and reproductive rights.
In this role, you will help strengthen Kallpa’s voice across digital platforms, newsletters, campaigns, and partner communications. Your work will support clearer messaging, stronger brand consistency, more engaging content, and improved online visibility so that the organization can reach wider audiences and deepen its impact.
This is an opportunity to apply your creative and strategic skills in a meaningful international cooperation setting. You will work alongside committed local professionals, contribute to practical communications tools, and help share the stories, programs, and results that inspire donors, partners, and communities to take action.
As a volunteer, you will:
Support the collection, review, and organization of written content and photographs for the institutional newsletter, ensuring materials are clear, compelling, and aligned with editorial and visual guidelines.
Coordinate newsletter distribution and follow-up communications by email and WhatsApp, in collaboration with the communications team and partner agencies.
Monitor social media platforms, assess audience engagement, and recommend communications and marketing strategies that increase visibility and strengthen digital presence.
Identify relevant digital trends, tools, and content approaches that can help Kallpa connect more effectively with its audiences.
Support the use of a practical digital planning system to help teams across regions coordinate content, deadlines, formats, and approvals more efficiently.
Standardize procedures and templates for submitting, reviewing, approving, and sharing communications materials across regional teams.
Contribute to the update of the organization’s Communications Plan and Visual Identity Manual, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, projects, and thematic areas.
Use SEO best practices and digital performance insights to help improve content reach, audience engagement, and donor and stakeholder communications
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
Knowledge of communications planning, digital marketing, audience engagement, and institutional positioning.
Understanding of themes related to community mental health, gender-based violence prevention, employment and entrepreneurship, the environment, and sexual and reproductive rights.
Intermediate to advanced Spanish language skills, both written and spoken.
Essential Background:
Experience designing communications plans, improving brand identity guidelines, or developing digital marketing strategies.
Ability to create clear, engaging, and audience-focused content for digital channels, newsletters, campaigns, or organizational communications.
Strong collaboration skills and an interest in working in an intercultural environment with local teams and community partners.
Strong communications can transform awareness into action. By helping Kallpa share its work more effectively, you will support programs that promote inclusion, strengthen community well-being, and expand opportunities for people whose voices and experiences deserve greater visibility.
What’s in it for YOU? A life-changing experience!
