The program is a fantastic opportunity that provides a second to none introduction to industry. Coal Services is a Specialised Health and Safety Scheme that provides an integrated suite of services to help identify, assess, monitor, and control many risks inherent in the NSW coal mining industry. Our preventative and responsive services in the areas of workplace health and safety, workers compensation, emergency response and training help to deliver on our purpose, 'to protect'. Mines Rescue, a business unit of Coal Services, is a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation, with more than 90 years’ experience assisting the NSW coal mining industry to manage risk and operate safely.
The primary role of Mines Rescue is to provide emergency and incident response to underground coal mines throughout NSW. Mines Rescue are also a primary provider of specialist training to mining and general industry, which assists in supporting continuous improvement in safety standards. These critical services support NSW coal mine workers, employers and communities and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and a healthy workforce. The Service has five Rescue Stations located at Lithgow, Mudgee, Singleton, Newcastle and Wollongong.
