Insurance Platform Product Owner
- Full-Time Fixed Term Opportunity | 24 months
- Role can be based in any of our Coal Services office locations with Hybrid working available
- Lead the strategy, roadmap and evolution of a critical insurance platform
About the role:
Coal Mines Insurance (CMI) is seeking an experienced Insurance Platform Product Owner to take ownership of our end-to-end insurance platform and its connected digital capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of business strategy, customer experience and technology. You will be responsible for maintaining the stability and performance of the current platform while driving its future evolution and modernisation. Working closely with business leaders, operational teams, technology partners and vendors, you will ensure platform outcomes support workers, employers and employees while aligning with CMI's strategic objectives and regulatory obligations.
Other responsibilities will include:
• Defining and maintaining the platform vision, roadmap and strategic priorities
• Owning and prioritising the platform backlog across operational, regulatory and strategic initiatives
• Translating business requirements into platform capabilities, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Leading business input into platform design, enhancements and modernisation projects
• Collaborating with stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Data, Finance, Risk and Compliance
• Supporting platform stability through effective incident, defect and risk management
• Coordinating testing, business readiness and release activities
• Driving continuous improvement opportunities that enhance customer and employee experiences
• Managing relationships with technology vendors and delivery partners
• Ensuring platform outcomes meet business, customer, compliance and operational requirements
About you:
Your education, experience and skills will include:
- Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Platform Manager or similar role
- Experience working within workers compensation or personal injury insurance
- Demonstrated experience managing or evolving complex business platforms
- Strong understanding of business processes, customer journeys and operational requirements
- Experience managing backlogs, prioritisation frameworks and platform roadmaps
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technology solutions
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience working in Agile, hybrid or iterative delivery environments
- Product Owner, Agile or Business Analysis certifications
- Experience with platform transformation, systems integration or large-scale technology implementations
