I. Scope & Summary of Primary Responsibilities

This Program Lead will oversee the delivery of CNIB client-focused programs. This is a Generalist Role that will be assigned the “Mobile Hub” and “Technology” portfolios to start. However, portfolios may change to meet the needs of CNIB and the participants we engage.

This is the job for you if…

  • You love learning new technology and enjoy breaking it down into simple, practical steps that help others build confidence and succeed.
  • You’re patient, encouraging and adaptable, meeting people where they are and adjusting your teaching style to fit their individual needs and abilities.
  • You enjoy life on the road and are energized by travelling throughout New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, building relationships and bringing programs directly into communities.
  • You’re an exceptional communicator who can connect with participants, volunteers, partners and community members from all walks of life.
  • You’re creative and innovative, always looking for new ways to deliver engaging programs, solve challenges and improve the participant experience.
  • You’re organized and self-directed, able to balance travel, event planning, program delivery, technology demonstrations and administrative responsibilities.
  • You’re collaborative and community-minded, excited to recruit and support volunteers, foster local partnerships and help grow CNIB’s presence across the Maritimes.
  • You’re flexible and resilient. Whether you're adapting a technology lesson, responding to a participant’s needs or adjusting plans on the road, you approach change with confidence and a positive attitude.

  • Provide information and demonstrations to SmartLife customers for high and low-tech SmartLife products including digital magnifiers, wearables, talking watches, etc.
  • Operate a point-of-sale system to process and track shop sales.
  • Conduct invitation calls and follow-up calls to participants and customers in communities where the Mobile Hub is travelling.
  • Launch volunteer-led socials in communities in New Brunswick.

Technology

  • Recruit, train, engage and actively manage a team of volunteer Tech Mates.
  • Develop implementation plans to maximize the success of the accessible technology in CNIB programs and in your local market; seek to grow existing CNIB programs in accessible technology.
  • Provide training in accessible technology to staff and volunteers, to help our team promote the benefits of using accessibility technology.

Other

  • Conduct data entry to track client participation, while also registering clients for programs and updating their contact and demographic information.
  • Evaluate programs and develop best practices; constantly seek opportunities to improve programs and participant outcomes.
  • Serve as a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at relevant external events; effectively communicate CNIB’s key messages to external audiences through presentations, briefing materials and other communication materials
  • Develop effective partnerships and community relations that support CNIB’s mission.

III. Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and training skills, with the ability to explain technology in simple, engaging and accessible ways for individuals with varying levels of experience and confidence.
  • Strong coaching and instructional skills, with the patience and adaptability to support people in learning new technology at their own pace.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with participants, volunteers, community partners and colleagues.
  • A passion for accessibility, inclusion and empowering people with sight loss to achieve greater independence.
  • The ability to recruit, train, motivate and support volunteers, creating positive and rewarding volunteer experiences.
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills, with the ability to independently manage travel, events, competing priorities and multiple projects.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset, with a willingness to try new approaches and continuously improve programs and participant experiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate records, participant information and program data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and virtual meeting platforms, with the confidence to quickly learn new technologies.

Experience and Education (Minimum Requirements)

  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel frequently throughout New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, including overnight travel.

Work Environment (indicate working conditions)

  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings as needed).
