Full job description
We’re building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. We need talented, passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients.
At CIBC, we embrace your strengths and your ambitions, so you are empowered at work. Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.
The Compliance and EAML Examination Program (CEEP) team is a specialized group within the Compliance Department, comprising several multi-skilled examination teams, including the Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (EAML) Examination team. This team is responsible for executing compliance examinations across various Lines of Business (LOBs), with the objective of independently assessing the design and operating effectiveness of management’s control environment and adherence to regulatory requirements, such as those outlined in the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and its associated Regulations (PCMLTFR). As the Manager, EAML Examinations, reporting to the Director, EAML Examinations, you will be responsible for conducting compliance testing of CIBC businesses and activities in accordance with the CEEP methodology. Your role will ensure adherence to CIBC’s Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, and Sanctions Policy requirements, associated standards and guidelines, relevant sections of applicable laws and regulations, and any directives issued by FINTRAC or other regulatory bodies. The Manager, EAML Examinations will possess a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, as well as knowledge of CIBC’s lines of business, Governance Groups, and Oversight Functions.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You will have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you will succeed
Execute AML/ATF and Sanctions Examinations - Plan and conduct examinations to evaluate the effectiveness of processes, controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Teamwork and collaboration - Share your expertise and support team members with their examinations; contribute to enhancements that strengthen the EAML Testing Program. Promote an environment where diverse opinions are valued.
Communication and interpersonal skills - Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities. Effectively engage with various lines of business regarding AML/ATF and Sanctions requirements and communicate examination results clearly.
Relationship Building - Establish and maintain positive working relationships with LOBs, Advisory partners, Internal Audit, and other Governance partners during examinations. You understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships for success. You inspire outcomes by making your voice heard and constructively challenging the status quo. You excel when empowered to lead, take initiative, and deliver results.
Reporting - Prepare and submit comprehensive reports to the LOB examined, detailing findings, ratings, and recommended remedial actions to address identified issues.
Who you are
Experienced Professional. You have demonstrated experience leading examinations, audits, or compliance reviews. Proficiency in AML/ATF and Sanctions-related legislation and regulations is required. Experience with testing AML/ATF controls and methodologies is highly advantageous.
Educational Background. You hold a University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of three years in the financial, compliance, or audit industry.
Certified Professional. You maintain current accreditation and good standing with ACAMS, ACFCS, CPA, or CIA.

Change Champion. You continuously evolve your approach and embrace new ways of working to deliver your best.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
