Responsibilities

The practitioner will support parents and caregivers in enhancing child development, parenting skills, and parent-child relationships. Responsibilities include managing the intake process, conducting needs assessments, and coordinating with community partners to ensure child safety and well-being.

Requirements

A degree or graduate diploma in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or Sociology is required. Candidates should have an understanding of social work values and experience working with vulnerable populations or young children.

Social Worker / Social Work Executive (KidSTART Practitioner)

Roles & Responsibility:

The KSP will work with parents, caregivers, and relevant systems in the following areas:


1.    Building child development knowledge and parenting skills 
2.    Enhancing parent-child relationships
3.    Supporting parents in enabling their children to meet age-appropriate

developmental milestones 
4.    Child safety and well-being 
5.    Key life transitions (Primary School transition support)
 

This includes but is not limited to:

A          Intake and Enrolment

  • Process referrals from a variety of sources, including hospitals, community referrals, self-referrals, government agencies and other SSAs.

  • Engage families about the programme, seek consent from and determine the eligibility of families for KidSTART programme.

  • Collate and maintain accurate and complete set of data in SSNet and on internal databases on all referrals and intakes.

B          Needs Identification and Assessment

  • Conduct timely and regular screening and assessment using different tools and assessments (training provided) to ensure child’s developmental needs are met and support maternal/main carer’s well-being.

  • Develop holistic child-centric case plans to coordinate the required support for the identified children.

C          Case Coordination, Systems Linkages and Mobilisation

  • Work closely with community partners/stakeholders to enhance service delivery and promote positive child development outcomes.

  • Where needed, organise case conferences involving the relevant parties to coordinate support and address barriers in support for the identified children and families.

  • Tap on a team of multi-disciplinary professionals to support health and developmental needs of identified children.

  • Coordinate support for the identified children and their families through relevant KidSTART support or other resources.

D          Education & Equipping

  • Conduct regular parent engagement sessions to enhance caregivers’ knowledge, skills and parenting capacity based on the KidSTART curriculum.

  • Upkeep and maintain all required administrative documentations including case notes.

Requirement:

  • Degree or Grad Dip in the relevant disciplines, Social Work/Early Childhood Education/Psychology/Sociology 

  • Candidates without experience but graduate in Social Work are welcome to apply; previous experiences via internships or placements in related areas of work will be considered

  • Social Work education and understanding of social work values and ethics

  • Understanding of work with vulnerable populations i.e. low-income families 

  • Experience in parent engagement work and working with young children is a plus

  • Case management experience in social work sector 

  • Should be comfortable and open to attend occasional night visits and straddle between different locations in East or North.
