Job Summary
The Sr Payroll Specialist operates at an advanced level in the processing and monitoring of the payrolls, insuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Process payroll including data entry, proofing, auditing, and problem resolution. The Sr Payroll Specialist is capable of answering more complex questions and mentors the Payroll Specialists.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review and process personnel forms and payroll deduction authorizations.
Calculate and process special payroll adjustments.
Audit time and attendance records for accuracy; resolve discrepancies.
Process electronic timecards and reconcile payroll records weekly.
Handle garnishments in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Prepare and transmit federal and state payroll tax deposits.
Process manual checks as needed.
Train and mentor Payroll Specialists.
Independently process payroll with minimal supervision.
Assist with testing new software, upgrades, and pay rule changes.
Support W-2 processing and year-end reporting.
Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
High School or GED Required.
Minimum 5 to 7 Years
Must be familiar with automated equipment and be able to perform computations/calculations with speed and accuracy. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in the English language. Must demonstrate ability to function independently.
