Job Summary
The RN plays a crucial role within the healthcare team, providing compassionate and holistic care to individuals who are nearing the end of their lives. They provide support to patients and their families during this sensitive time, focusing on enhancing quality of life, managing symptoms, and providing emotional support. The RN collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care that addresses their physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. • Develop individualized care plans based on assessments, patients' wishes, and medical directives. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure care plans address comprehensive needs. • Administer medications and treatments to manage pain and alleviate distressing symptoms. • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to ensure patient comfort. • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, addressing fears, concerns, and emotional distress. • Facilitate open and honest conversations about patients' feelings, wishes, and end-of-life goals. • Educate patients' families about the dying process and what to expect in the final stages. • Provide guidance on caregiving techniques, emotional support, and coping strategies. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) that reflect patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes. • Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and legal regulations in end-of-life care.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
A minimum of one year’s job-related experience or equivalent is required.
