About This Role:
As the Director of Finance Transformation, you will be at the forefront of Biogen’s finance and IT modernization initiatives and the strategic owner of these workstreams within the FP&A organization. This newly created role is pivotal in bridging finance and technology, ensuring that enterprise-wide initiatives such as system enhancements, process automation, and AI-enabled analytics are designed and delivered to advance FP&A’s capabilities. You will define what FP&A needs from transformation efforts, influence cross-functional prioritization, and hold stakeholders accountable to finance outcomes. With deep FP&A experience and having lived through major systems implementations, you are energized by the broad scope and opportunity to make a lasting impact on FP&A operations. Your contributions will enhance FP&A's ability to service the business, fitting seamlessly into Biogen’s overall business structure.
What You’ll Do:
Define and maintain a multi-year view of FP&A’s technology and process needs, focusing on enterprise data strategy, planning, and reporting architecture.
Translate FP&A strategy into actionable requirements across key initiatives including system modernization and reporting evolution.
Drive the AI roadmap for FP&A, identifying high-value use cases such as predictive forecasting and automated variance analysis.
Represent FP&A in finance system design and modernization efforts, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
Partner with IT and data engineering on the enterprise finance data strategy, embedding FP&A’s reporting and analytics needs.
Review systems deliverables to ensure they meet FP&A’s functional and operational requirements.
Monitor finance workstream progress, proactively identifying risks and ensuring milestones are met.
Engage thoughtfully with vendor proposals and project roadmaps, evaluating recommendations with technical fluency.
Lead the development and integration of FP&A’s reporting and visualization capabilities into a scalable environment.
Expand analytical capabilities, including tools for outlier detection and predictive forecasting.
Communicate transformation priorities clearly to Senior Finance leaders and drive adoption within FP&A through training.
Who You Are:
You are a visionary leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, with a passion for transforming finance operations through innovation and strategic thinking. You possess a deep understanding of FP&A and have the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable finance strategies. Your collaborative nature and strong communication skills make you an effective bridge between finance and technology teams. You are committed to driving change and are motivated by the opportunity to make a significant impact on business performance.
Required Skills:
12+ years of experience in FP&A with expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and management reporting.
Direct, hands-on experience in at least one full-cycle ERP or EPM implementation such as Oracle, Workday, SAP, or Anaplan.
Familiarity with AI/ML applications in finance such as driver-based forecasting and anomaly detection.
Ability to translate finance and technology requirements, write functional requirements, and review data models.
Experience in a matrixed environment working with IT, business leaders, shared services, and external vendors.
Proven track record of operating at a senior stakeholder level with credibility and influence.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Preferred Skills:
