Job Description:

The EXL Assistant Coordinator is a School-Based position that supports the implementation and daily operations of high-quality expanded learning programs that promote the academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth of K–12 youth. This role requires a compassionate, curious, humble, accountable, and purpose-driven leader who builds strong relationships with students, families, school partners, and staff while supporting program quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. The Assistant Coordinator serves as a key leadership partner to the Program Coordinator and may oversee site operations in the Program Coordinator's absence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Associate degree or higher; alternatively, completion of at least 48 college units or passage of the Instructional Aide Examination.

  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and TB clearance.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a K–12 educational setting or youth-serving program.

  • Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday and commit through the academic school year.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, school personnel, and community partners.

  • Proficiency with Google Drive, email, spreadsheets, and program management platforms.

  • Working knowledge of restorative practices, youth development principles, and DEIB concepts.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Social Work, Recreation, or a related field.

  • Experience supporting grant-funded educational or expanded learning programs.

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Chinese, or other languages).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, walk, and move throughout program spaces for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to actively supervise youth during indoor and outdoor activities.

  • Ability to travel between program locations and participate in school and community events as needed.
