Job Description:
As a Senior Controls Software Engineer will have overall responsibility of developing and managing software for control systems, particularly in industrial settings. Responsibilities typically include designing and implementing controls software, collaborating with end users to enhance applications, and participating in the full lifecycle of project development from blueprinting to deployment.
Proficiency in PLC programming, understanding of HMI/SCADA development, and strong experience with anyone of Siemens / AB Rockwell / Beckhoff / B&R / Sigmatek software or combination are often required. This role may also involve code review and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Design clean-sheet automation systems from concept through production. Key responsibilities include:
Translate Customer’s Requirement into Design Specification, Evaluate Design Feasibility and Provide Technical Expertise to Meet Customer’s Request.
Design and develop electrical systems for custom automation solutions, ensuring optimal functionality, efficiency, and reliability.
Program and configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), Robotics, safety systems devices, vision systems, and other control devices to ensure precise control and monitoring of automation processes.
Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to identify and rectify any issues, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Provide technical support and expertise during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases of custom automation projects.
Program devices like motors, drives, actuators, robots, vision systems, sensors, servo controls, etc as applicable.
Responsible for full system programming, testing, debugging, commissioning, installation, service, and upgrades.
Perform Design Reviews with Internal & External Customers.
Create and Review Detailed Bill of Materials for Accuracy (Quantities, Part #’s, Etc.).
Maintain Schedule Milestones.
Achieve Cost Targets Through Effective Design.
Stay Up to Date with Leading Edge Technology.
Contribute to Continuous Improvement Efforts Across Entire Organization.
Requirements and Experience:
Over 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing, programming, and implementing control systems for custom automation projects.
Extensive experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and software developers, to integrate control systems seamlessly into automation projects.
Strong understanding of custom automation requirements, with the ability to tailor solutions to meet the unique needs of clients.
Excellent documentation skills, including the creation of control system architecture diagrams, wiring schematics, and user manuals.
Ability to provide technical support and expertise during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases of custom automation projects.
Proficient in programming PLCs, HMIs, and other control devices to achieve precise control and monitoring of automation processes.
System level approach to the complete machine program with a high focus on recovery from start to finish.
Experience in robotics, automation systems, vision systems, proximity and photo sensors, servo controls, etc.
Competent skills with PC’s, networking, device communications, integration, and design.
Working knowledge of E-Plan / AutoCAD Electrical is an added advantage.
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical component selection and panel layout design.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with customers and team members. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and general public.
Strong Knowledge in Commercial Components & Supporting Partners.
Excellent Analytical Skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Must be Responsible, Self-Driven, Self-Motivated, and Able to Work Independently.
Mandatory Tool Skills:

Education and Training Requirements:
Bachelor of Engineering – Electronics & Communication Engineering or Instrumentation and controls / Engineering preferred and 6+ years equivalent experience in industrial automation, Controls development and commissioning.
Occasional domestic and/or global travel may be required for this position up to 20%.
Key Result Areas:
Configure automation hardware and software packages according to project design specification.
Develop HMI programs from scratch as per client’s machine automation requirements.
Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of HMI programs developed.
Follow software change management procedures and maintain version control.
Manage projects as assigned and deliver to agreed schedule and scope.
Communicate with project stakeholders the progress relative to plan.
Support FAT/SAT and start-up of integrated control systems.
