The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Technician – Metallurgy (238867)

                                                                     About the role 

Reporting to the Metallurgy Laboratory Supervisor, the successful candidate will undertake routine and non-routine work in the metallurgical plant laboratory and ensure the test work is completed with high standards and in a timely manner 

 In this role, you will:

• Ensure plant checks and monitoring related to cyanide and pH compliance are maintained including routine maintenance and operational checks for online instruments
• Conduct plant checks and participate in all routine metallurgical tasks, plant surveys, sampling, inventory stock take and test work programs
• Support Plant Mets and Met Lab Supervisor to carry out routine plant checks as well as involve fully to assist with plant troubleshooting when issues arise 
• Follow up on results with Assay Lab and ensure all plant and test data entries are updated and reported on time. This includes calibration data for online instruments
• Ensure all tasks are done accurately and the relevant SOPs are followed correctly
• Promote environmentally sound work practices among peers and contractors and ensure all environmental requirements are complied with and maintained
• Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.

About You;

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

• Tertiary qualifications with a Degree in Metallurgy
• A recent graduate after 2019 with 2 to 3 years work experience is preferred however, any previous experience in the Metallurgy laboratory will be an advantage.
• Sound communication skills and computer literacy in Windows applications (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Be highly self-motivated and willing to learn and train, share and pass on knowledge to others
• The incumbent must be a team player, be highly organized and able to perform multiple tasks, paying attention to detail and meeting deadlines
• Physically fit, can work long shifts when required and willing to be on a fly in fly out roster.
• Solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, particularly in Processing plant
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Proficient in using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Mobilization Requirement 

 This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
