The Lead Career Counselor provides direct support to the Program Manager and line staff, in addition to carrying a caseload. They provide career exploration, assistance with job search, and support services to individuals eligible for Avivo Employment Services. This position will develop and maintain current employer partner relationships as well as develop new relationships with businesses to coordinate services in the community, assist with securing employment, and provide retention supports to those actively employed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as Lead Career Counselor
Assume management duties during Program Manager’s absence
Assist program staff with day-to-day challenges and questions
Conduct file reviews for the assigned programs in accordance with agency and funder policies
Complete Stored Value Card reconciliation each month
Support counselors to meet program goals, performance metrics, and reporting requirements.
Review client files, case notes, and service documentation for quality assurance.
Generate reports and maintain accurate program records and data
Serve as a Career Counselor
Obtain and review all required documentation and determine participant eligibility.
Complete comprehensive needs assessment on all individuals referred with respect to contract policies and guidelines.
Develop individual employment plans and assist participants in accessing public and private resources to meet goals outlined in the plan.
Provide intensive case management and advocacy for participants and their families.
Help participants develop and strengthen work behaviors and employability.
Establish effective relationships with area training institutions to increase participant’s skill levels and job market competitiveness.
Promote continued education and lifelong learning to prepare participants for career advancement.
Assist participants in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment.
QualificationsRequired
High School or GED and 6 years of relevant experience OR
Associate degree in human services or similar field and 4 years of workforce development or relevant experience OR
Bachelor's degree in human services or similar field and 2 years of experience.
Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
Desired
Lead experience preferred.
Global Career Development Facilitator Certification preferred or ability to become certified.
Two or more years of experience providing vocational/employment counseling, case management, vocational rehabilitation, supported work settings, community mental health, or chemical dependency services.
