POW&R, Autism Delaware’s adult services program, is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support a young woman in her home.
Direct Support Professionals play an important role in helping individuals live as independently as possible while supporting them in their homes and within the community.
Responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the individuals being supported and may include:
Assisting an individual with daily living activities
Supporting community participation and outings
Assisting with personal care and hygiene
Supporting meal preparation and household routines
Monitoring health or medical concerns
Supporting individuals who may display behavioral challenges
Encouraging independence, communication, and life skills
These duties are essential functions of the position and are part of providing quality residential support.
Applicants must have:
Reliable personal transportation
A valid driver’s license
Proof of insurance
A clean driving record
We are seeking candidates who are:
Reliable, patient, and compassionate
Comfortable providing hands-on support when needed
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Flexible with scheduling based on program needs
Willing to work evenings, weekends, or holidays when required

These organizations came together in 2010 to form a strong statewide organization to ensure that all people in Delaware who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) thrive as accepted and included members of their communities.
