2027 Graduate Certificate of Nursing Practice (Cardiac Care or Cardiac Care Interventional)

About Cardiac:
Ward 5 East is a dynamic 32-bed unit specialising in cardiac and thoracic surgery and cardiology medicine. It contains a 12-bed High Dependency Unit caring for cardiac medical and surgical patients and thoracic surgery patients and has ambulatory telemetry monitoring facilities for eighteen beds.
5 East has a supported structure for early career nurses offering a unit-based Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) and Post Graduate Certificate in Cardiac Nursing in collaboration with Deakin University.
About the program and role:
An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic and highly motivated registered nurses to undertake apost graduate program in Cardiac nursing. This program, theGraduate Certificate of Cardiac Nursing, will be delivered in collaboration with our university partner, Deakin University.
Throughout the duration of the postgraduate program, you will be work on ward 5 East or in the Cardiac Interventional program in the Cardiac catheter suite in 5 North of Austin Health. Students will be exposed to several experiential learning opportunities throughout the programs, with a planned rotation to Ward 5 North (Cardiac Catheterisation Unit). A model of blended learning is utilised with both theoretical and clinical requirements whilst you are working in the cardiac clinical environment.
Austin Health follows a best practice clinical learning environment philosophy and delivers education using contemporary teaching modalities with an emphasis on experiential learning. This comprehensive program, overseen by our dedicated education team, integrates both clinical and practical components.
As a Post Graduate Nurse in the cardiac environment, a regular day will see you:
Prioritise and deliver care within scope of practice and according to nursing care plan
Utilise patient assessment information to adjust the care plan to meet health care needs
Increase scope of practice by participating in core competencies relevant to specialty practice
Identify gaps in own learning through self-reflection and feedback and actively seek out learning opportunities
Achieve and maintain the academic and clinical standards set within the post graduate clinical program course structure and overseen by the management and education teams
About you:
You will be someone with excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to self-development and education. You’ll enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and have a commitment to quality, best practice, and environmental safety.
You’ll further have:
Registered Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
At least two year’s acute nursing experience
