The operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems to ensure regulatory compliance and safe service delivery. They will also act as a project resource, overseeing subcontractors and managing health and safety programs while supporting project documentation and data analysis.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma and 4-8 years of relevant experience, along with a Class 1 or 2 license in water or wastewater treatment. Proficiency in operating equipment, reading blueprints, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations is essential.

The Wastewater Treatment Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards. This role will involve maintenance and inspection activities to guarantee the delivery of safe drinking water, effective sewage conveyance, and system readiness for fire protection. Additionally, the operator will support capital upgrades and gain exposure to Arcadis service lines and client businesses while developing technical skills.
Role Accountabilities
The role will require obtaining and maintaining Class 2 licenses for Wastewater Treatment, along with participating in rotational on‑call duties and working overtime when necessary. The operator should bring intermediate customer service skills and experience in water/wastewater operations and maintenance planning, supported by a Wastewater Treatment Level 2 certification.
The candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds, hold a valid Driver’s License, and be capable of obtaining a CMV Driver’s License. Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills are essential, as is intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Proficiency with hand and power tools, along with the ability to read blueprints, drawings, and GIS maps, will be important for success in this role.
