Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Project Manager you will be responsible for providing project planning, management and oversight for key initiatives and implementation projects, ensuring first that these initiatives and projects are closely aligned with ANZ Technology strategic priorities, and second, that these initiatives and projects are completed on-time, within scope and budget and with an extremely high quality of deliverables

You’ll have capability in coordinating resources and interdependencies across multiple streams of work. The Project Manager will provide structure and leadership to a broad, multi-disciplinary project team comprised of internal people, vendors, and contractors. Experience in large, complex, dynamic environments is essential. To be successful in this role, you’ll be a confident communicator with experience in negotiation and influencing skills.

This role is accountable for: 

• Leading and motivating cross-functional teams while engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• Overseeing delivery by assigning and guiding technical teams to ensure alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budget
• Promoting a culture of openness, trust, and collaboration
• Driving effective coordination across all project phases, including planning, execution, and change control
• Ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent reporting
• Articulating and aligning project vision, goals, and objectives with organisational strategy

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Manage and deliver projects end‑to‑end, with active involvement from inception and planning through to execution and final delivery, including small to medium initiatives and defined workstreams within larger programmes
• Collaborate effectively with business owners, stakeholders, and third‑party vendors to achieve optimal customer outcomes
• Provide financial oversight and manage budgets across project deliverables
• Operate across multiple teams to ensure delivery is aligned, coordinated, and on track
• Communicate clearly and confidently, engaging stakeholders at all levels, and influencing where required to support successful outcomes
• Contribute to governance activities, including progress reporting, risk escalation, and decision support
• Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Apply sound project management practices aligned with ANZ delivery frameworks, adapting methodologies to suit project needs
• Demonstrate strong organisational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Build and maintain effective working relationships, fostering collaboration and high‑performing teamsShow adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and ambiguity
• Bring a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset, with sound judgement, active listening, and confident decision‑making
