Responsibilities

The coordinator will welcome and support volunteers, assisting with onboarding, training, and the coordination of engagement activities. They are also responsible for maintaining volunteer records and supporting the Volunteer Engagement Manager in program operations.

Requirements

Candidates need at least one year of professional experience working with the public, customers, or volunteers. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work a flexible part-time schedule.

Anderson Humane believes volunteers make extraordinary things happen. They comfort scared animals, care for orphaned wildlife, and help us fulfill our mission every day. Behind each of these moments is a volunteer program built on meaningful relationships and a team that's dedicated to helping volunteers succeed and feel valued.

As our Part-Time Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, you'll help create a welcoming, organized, and supportive experience for our volunteers. You'll build relationships, assist with engagement and training, and help ensure volunteers feel valued while making a difference for the animals in our care.

Pay: $16.00 per hour

What You'll Do

  • Welcome, support, and nurture positive, long-term relationships with volunteers.
  • Assist with volunteer onboarding, training, and communication.
  • Help coordinate and carry out volunteer activities and group engagement opportunities.
  • Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions.
  • Maintain and update volunteer records with care.
  • Assist the Volunteer Engagement Manager with program operations.
  • Participate in activities to promote and grow a robust program.

What to Expect

  • A combination of office, shelter, outdoor, and community-based work.
  • Shared workspace; exposure to loud noises.
  • Interaction with domestic and wildlife animals.
  • Frequent collaboration with volunteers, staff, and the public.
  • To be physically active throughout the workday: walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • To adhere to safety protocols due to potential animal-related risks, like bites and zoonotic illnesses.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to represent Anderson Humane with professionalism and warmth.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience working with the public, customers, or volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to be successful working in a cooperative style.
