Position Title: Director of People Operations

Reports to:  Chief Performance Officer

Grade Level: 13

Full Salary Range: $84,323.70 - $126,485.56

Hiring Salary Range: $84,323.70 - $105,404.63

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Director of People Operations is responsible for the operational, compliance, and regulatory integrity of the Human Resources function. This role ensures all people‑related processes are accurate, compliant, efficient, and audit‑ready across a multistate credit union environment. The Director serves as the primary owner of HR risk management and infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

HR Operations & Administration

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for payroll, benefits, retirement plans, and leave administration.
• Oversee workers’ compensation, COBRA, unemployment, and related programs.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of all HR transactions.
• Own HR data integrity, records management, and information security.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Monitor regulatory changes and lead implementation of required updates.
• Serve as primary HR liaison for audits, exams, and regulatory inquiries.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and employee/manager handbooks.

Systems, Controls & Reporting

• Oversee HR systems administration and process controls.
• Develop metrics and reporting related to payroll accuracy, benefits administration, and compliance.
• Partner with Finance and Legal on people‑related risk and reporting needs.

Leadership & Oversight

• Lead and develop HR operations staff.
• Serve as a senior HR advisor on complex employee relations matters (process and risk perspective).
• Support enterprise leadership with data‑driven people operations insights.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required.
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience; financial services experience strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• Extensive knowledge of employment law and HR compliance in a multistate environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with regulators and auditors.
• Strong leadership, judgment, and process design skills.
