The Safety Officer is responsible for conducting regular inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure a safe work environment. They will develop safety policies, investigate accidents to prevent recurrence, and promote a strong safety culture.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or occupational safety, or a relevant technical certificate. A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction safety and hazardous activities, along with BOSH/COSH and First Aid certifications, is required.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for conducting regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure our work environment is safe. The position will also develop and implement safety programs and policies that comply with all regulations.
Conduct safety inspections and audits of all work areas, equipment, and procedures to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Develop and implement safety programs and policies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including incident reports, training logs, and inspection checklists.
Collaborate with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Stay updated on new safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, or a related field.
Alternatively, a diploma or technical certificate in Construction Safety training or Project HIRAC.
Certifications:
BOSH/COSH - Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training/Construction Occupational Safety and Health Training
First Aid / CPR certification.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years experience in construction/project management roles.
At least 2 years experience in hazardous activities involving working at heights, confined spaces, hotworks, electrical works, excavation and critical lifts.
Knowledge of Standards:
Familiarity with OSHA/ISO 45001 standards.
Understanding of Permit to Work System and Task Risk Analysis.
