About LEMOINE

LEMOINE is a nationally recognized leader in Building Construction, Infrastructure, Disaster Response, and Program Services. As an ENR Top 400 Contractor and a Great Place to Work®-Certified company, LEMOINE delivers complex projects throughout Louisiana, the Gulf Coast, and the southern United States.

Our success is driven by a commitment to building better-people, communities, projects, and lives. Safety is central to everything we do, and every team member is responsible for helping maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment.

LEMOINE is seeking a motivated Safety Coordinator to support the implementation and administration of safety programs across assigned construction projects.

Position Summary

The Safety Coordinator supports project leadership and the Safety Department in promoting, implementing, and maintaining LEMOINE's safety policies, procedures, and expectations. This position regularly visits active construction areas, identifies potential hazards, assists with employee training, maintains safety documentation, and helps ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating with craft employees, subcontractors, supervisors, and project leadership. This position requires a strong field presence and the ability to address safety concerns professionally and promptly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of LEMOINE's safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and document unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential hazards.
  • Communicate identified concerns to project leadership and assist with developing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor field activities to promote compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and project-specific safety standards.
  • Assist with new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other employee-training activities.
  • Verify that employees and subcontractors are using the required personal protective equipment.
  • Support project teams in completing job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, safety permits, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, certifications, and corrective-action logs.
  • Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, property-damage, and environmental investigations.
  • Gather photographs, witness statements, reports, and other information needed to document incidents.
  • Help track corrective actions and confirm that identified safety concerns are resolved.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and communicate concerns to the appropriate project team members.
  • Participate in project meetings, preconstruction meetings, and safety-planning discussions.
  • Assist with emergency-response planning, drills, and jobsite preparedness.
  • Monitor housekeeping, access routes, fall protection, excavation safety, equipment operations, and other high-risk construction activities.
  • Promote employee participation in safety programs and encourage the reporting of hazards and near misses.
  • Build positive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, inspectors, and project leadership.
  • Immediately report serious hazards, incidents, or violations to the Safety Manager and appropriate operational leadership.
  • Support additional Safety Department initiatives, audits, training programs, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of construction, industrial, safety, or field-related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • OSHA 30 Construction certification or the ability to obtain it within an established timeframe.
  • Ability to recognize common construction hazards and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate safety expectations professionally to employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and mobile technology.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to assigned project locations.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative with project and safety teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of construction-safety experience.
  • Experience supporting commercial, healthcare, infrastructure, civil, industrial, or disaster-recovery construction projects.
  • OSHA 510 certification.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician certification.
  • Familiarity with Procore or other construction-management and safety-documentation platforms.
  • Knowledge of excavation, trenching, fall protection, confined-space entry, crane operations, heavy equipment, and electrical safety.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.

Work Conditions

  • Regularly work on active construction sites and in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and access elevated or restricted work areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Regular exposure to construction equipment, noise, dust, heat, cold, and changing environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • May be required to work extended hours, weekends, nights, or adjusted schedules based on project needs.
  • Regional travel and temporary project assignments may be required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement benefits.
