Position Overview
In accordance with detailed procedures outlined in the Division of Financial Institutions Examiner Manual, independently conducts statutory exams of small, non-complex state- chartered credit unions and assists higher level examiners in medium to large, more complex state-chartered credit unions, with duties including, but not limited to: Compiles a detailed and comprehensive report to support findings developed from the exam of the credit union being examined and submits findings and recommendations to examiner in charge. Discusses with management of credit unions being examined the results of the exam and provides routine advice and assistance. Attends and participates in staff meetings and seminars to receive supervisory direction. Works in conjunction and cooperation with Federal counterparts in performing either concurrent or joint examinations of financial institutions. Participates and completes various trainings as required. Performs other related duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college; or possession of a Certified Public Accountant rating.
Requires completion of the approved agency training program; or one year professional experience involving either examination of financial institutions or the equivalent professional experience within a financial institution.
This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
Per the Supplemental Agreement: Any Financial Institution Examiner Trainee who meets satisfactory performance levels in the position for one (1) year shall be advanced to the Financial Institution Examiner I title.
Preferred Qualifications
Position prefers a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or banking, or a master’s degree in business administration.
Position prefers three years of audit or examination experience of banks, credit unions, mortgage companies, or other financial institution within the last 48 months.
Position prefers three years of professional office experience in a legal office, insurance office, lending office or other similar financial institution within last 48 months.
Position prefers three years of experience collecting and analyzing financial data, as well as drafting detailed and complicated examination reports within last 48 months.
Prefers thirty-six months working knowledge of business administration, policy & procedures, and operation practices of financial institutions within last 48 months.
Position prefers working knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations governing the financial industry and how they are applied.
Position prefers three years of experience working with technology used by financial institutions or financial government regulators within last 48 months.
Conditions of Employment
Requires possession of valid driver’s license.
Requires the ability to travel extensively.
Requires the ability to pick up and carry at least 25 lb. of equipment to and from job sites.
Requires the ability to pass an Agency conducted background check.
