Job Title: Shopping Ads Specialist (CSS)
Company: Genie Shopping Ltd
Location: Flexible - Distributed with use of Cambridge office and occasional travel
Working Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week with flexible working arrangements
Salary Range: £48,670 - £52,727 pa
Who is Genie Shopping?
Genie Shopping is a UK-based, high-growth performance marketing business operating through the affiliate channel and CSS ecosystem. As a certified Google CSS Premium Partner, we work with retail giants like Boots, ebay, Frasers, B&Q, Currys, and Lookfantastic, serving over 57 billion ad impressions to users across our network.
We differentiate ourselves through our managed CSS CPA model and our technical scale. We don’t act as a traditional CSS; we act as a performance partner. Alongside our self-managed SaaS offering, our core revenue comes from our CPA model, which means our success is directly aligned with our clients'. We are a driving force in the industry, leading the conversation through education, sponsorship, and active event contribution. This approach has led to huge success, doubling our growth in 2024 and setting new records in 2025.
We are a certified Great Place to Work with a remote-first setup. Our environment is small (~20 people) but ambitious. We value:
Autonomy: We hire people who want to own their output. If you love solving complex problems and implementing your own ideas, you will thrive here.
Connection: We prioritize culture over geography. We get together for proper team socials every quarter - think punting, cocktail making, and go-karting, to ensure we stay connected as people, not just colleagues.
The team is remotely based, but has fluidity in meeting in-person for client meetings, industry events, strategy days and team socials. There are requirements to travel to Cambridge around once a month, with London (or other UK locations) once a month on average.
Job Overview
We are looking for a Shopping Ads Specialist to support the expansion of our 'Self-Managed' CSS service. In this context, 'Self-Managed' refers to retailers who manage their own ad accounts and ad spend, while leveraging our CSS partner status for improved performance. Unlike our traditional hands-on PPC roles, this is a client-facing strategic position designed for someone who can guide large retailers on maximising the opportunity available to them through our CSS partnership.
This role is perfect for a candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset - someone who is excited to get involved with all aspects of a business and steer its strategic growth. You will take your Shopping Ads knowledge and expertise to shape the service and product offering, spot new opportunities, build tools that align with customer needs, and drive retailer acquisition and success.
You will act as the bridge between our retail partners, our internal knowledge base, and Google’s own account managers and product specialists. Your goal is to help clients maximise the benefits of working with Genie as their CSS partner while providing expert-level advice on account setup, feed health, and advanced product implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
Lead the operational side of building systems and processes to support the growth of this new business unit within the wider team.
Drive process documentation and work independently or with consultants on tasks such as query monitoring and ensuring frequent, high-quality communications.
Oversee the operational implementation within Salesforce, collaborating with consultants to optimise workflows.
Existing Customer Growth
Join client calls and respond to specialist inquiries to support our retail partners with their Shopping Ads campaigns.
Proactively make recommendations to our retail partners to grow their campaigns (Eg sharing new Betas)
Identify opportunities within the existing portfolio of retailers running other Genie services (eg the affiliate model) to upsell our Self Managed service and lead this conversation with the retailer.
Google Relationship
Build and nurture a strong working relationship with the Google Account Management and Product Specialist teams.
Act as the escalation point for technical issues, Merchant Center disapprovals, or policy issues, ensuring our clients receive expert Google support via Genie.
Stay ahead of the curve by keeping on top of Google product betas and specialist training workshops, keeping our self-managed clients informed of the latest changes and recommendations.
External awareness
Keep up to date with developments in Shopping Ads and performance marketing, and identify opportunities relevant to the Genie Shopping business model.
Identify relevant events for yourself and the wider team to develop knowledge in both the PPC and performance marketing industries.
Skills & Experience
Required:
3+ years’ experience in PPC, with mastery of Google Shopping Ads and detailed knowledge of Google Ad formats including PMax.
Deep technical knowledge of Google Merchant Center and Feed Optimisation.
Proven experience in a client-facing role, managing large-scale retail accounts.
Background in e-commerce, marketplaces, or performance-led retail environments
Understanding of the Google CSS ecosystem in the UK and EU
Desirable:
Previous experience working directly with Google’s Agency/Channel teams.
Familiarity with Feed Management Tools (e.g., Channable, Feedonomics).

Genie Ventures is a rapidly growing digital marketing and publishing company. We run a stable of successful businesses including the UK’s first broadband comparison site (Broadband Genie) and a number of specialist comparison sites. We’ve also taken everything we’ve learned from growing these sites and created an internationally recognised, award winning performance marketing agency (Genie Goals).
We’re based near Cambridge city centre, with a staff of more than 50 fantastic people, although our reach is global - operating in the UK, European and US markets. We are tech-focused having developed our own technology in house, and work closely with some of the biggest brands in the world including Google, Amazon, Karl Lagerfeld and Sky.
Genie Ventures is a fabulous company to work for; then we would say that, wouldn’t we? It’s not just us saying it though – in recent times we’ve won a prestigious Working Mums Top Employer Award; and been a finalist for the Amazon Growing Business Awards Employer of the Year, The Cambridge News Business Awards Employer of the Year Award and the British Small Business Awards Small Business of the Year.
We’ve achieved this by developing a unique culture based on developing our team and trusting them; with Genies being encouraged to learn and develop in a supportive yet ambitious environment. And we’ve managed to maintain a wide-eyed and fearless start-up mentality despite massive growth in both staff numbers and profitability.
A huge perk of being a Genie is the sense of fun and togetherness that comes from working in a sociable, fun, caring and creative environment. In addition you’ll find an enviable selection of benefits, from table football and board games to a kitchen stocked to bursting with posh tea and coffee, fruit and other goodies – ready and waiting for you when you join our happy family.
